This long term deal makes me wonder if the NCAA is considering making a deal with Indianapolis for the Men's basketball final four.  I think it is already the backup site and it seems they are in Indianapolis for the final four more than any other city.  Also the NCAA is based out of Indianapolis.  All that and a deal with Omaha makes me think Indianapolis might be next.

The NCAA will NEVER make a deal for the Final Four to remain in one city.  College basketball has too wide of a fan base that's accustomed to visiting different locations every year.  That's part of the magic that is March Madness---figuring out which cities your team may or may not be going to each and every year.  It's also a safe assumption that a majority of fans attending the Final Four are from the host city.  I can envision Indianapolis becoming used to the Final Four and not making as big of a deal out of it as it is.

College baseball is completely different.  Omaha is what makes the CWS as big as it is.  If the CWS were to move to another city (which was a serious consideration of the NCAA if Omaha didn't build the downtown stadium) then the NCAA would see a dramatic long term drop in attendance.  College baseball as a whole is no where near as big as college football and basketball.  The elite programs have a fairy good following, but a good portion of the fans at the CWS are native Nebraskans that bandwagon for all of the teams.  There's not really much else to do in Nebraska other than Husker football, so the entire state gobbles up the CWS since it conveniently occurs during a dead period of college football.

You may be right.  But Indianapolis already has a deal with the NCAA to host the Final Four once every five years.  That is 20% of the time, to me that doesn't put the idea in the realm of NEVER.

It's also a safe assumption that a majority of fans attending the Final Four are from the host city.
That is a misconception.  The majority of the fans are from the schools who made it to the final four.  The rest of the tickets made available to the public are on a list and (so its said) are randomly picked.  They may be slightly more locals then others but not as much as you might think.

I can envision Indianapolis becoming used to the Final Four and not making as big of a deal out of it as it is.
I can't see that happening.  Not sure what your reasoning is behind that, but basketball is a BIG deal in Indiana.  You should see the big deal they make out of the IHSAA (high school) tournament every year.  I couldn't see Indy not making as big of a deal out of it as it is.

Its kinda like the saying, "In 49 states its basketball, but this is Indiana..."
