I have to admit, I can't stand this guy on the ice- but if he were a Penguin, I would probably love him.

Hey Pens fans- let's show some class and give this guy credit where credit is due. He works hard, he gets in your face, and he disrupts your rhythm. He's a solid hockey player. Bad luck for Avery is good luck for the Pens. From a pure hockey point of view, this is a big loss for the Rangers... with all of that said, you don't like to see someone injured.

Best Wishes- AND GO PENS!!!

Great post and I couldn't agree with you more. I'm a devil fan and had NO problem with what Avery did to Marty. I kind of thought it was funny. I had a bigger problem with Marty not shaking the hand of Mr. Avery. Nobody works harder or wants to win more then him and he'll do anything for that to happen. It is a tough loss for the Rangers but even with Avery, the Pens probably would win. I hope Avery makes a full recovery and signs with the Devils next year!!! Best wishes Avery, and good luck to the Pens the rest of the way!!

We said. Finally someone with class responds in a light that shows true class. I'm a Rangers fan and, naturally, I'm happy to have Avery on my team. But to see anyone get injured on the job, no matter what their profession, is always devastating. Let's all hope that Sean Avery gets well soon and continues to contribute to the sport we love.

Totally agree - he is an agitator - lots of players do it.  He is good at it - AND he brings it every day on the ice.  He has been one of the best players in this series and although I am a Die Hard Penguins fan, I don't ever like to see someone get knocked out due to injury- no matter who they are.

Well ok - I am somewhat of a Hypocrite there - there are 2 players in all of sports that I laughed at for their injuries (Deion Sanders and Eric Lindros) but I was tired of them being more about them thant their teams or sports......

Sean - Quick recovery. I will miss watching you and your intensity on the ice - it brings out the best in your team and your opponents.

Rangers Fans - I am honestly upset this happened to him.  I would rather him be on the ice, win or lose, than not.

I have to agree with LGB. I hate Avery, but mostly because he doesn't play for the Pens. I am certain that I would love him if he did.

Thankfully, his injury is neither life threatening or career threatening (think Chris Simms), and I do hate to cheer an injury, but good riddance. I certainly won't miss him tonight or any other night if the series happens to extend past four games.

His slash on Crosby in game 2 was just cheap and his dust up with Fleury and Hall Gill was cowardly. It seemed like he was looking around to make sure the linesman was close enough to break up the fight before he really got into it with Gill and Laraque.

Who knows what kind of cheap shot he would be capable of if his team was down late facing elimination? Being irritating is one thing, but intentionally slashing somebody away from the play (ala another Rangers douche...Adam Graves) is dirty and shouldn't be tolerated by the NHL. I don't want to give the impression that the problem is just Sean Avery or the Rangers either; it is across the league and it should be stopped. The NHL supposedly reviews every play from every game, so when that stuff happens, they should step up and fine people or sit them down for a game.

Anyway, best wishes to Sean Avery. At least you'll only be missing one game:)
