Well I just read that the mavs and avery parted ways a couple minutes ago. What do you guys think and should we get the phoenix coach to replace him. I was all for letting him go but now that it really happen whos next. I also think we watched the last game of Howard as well. After hearing about his b-day party the night that they got blown out in game 4 makes me sick. I think this will make the playoffs more exciting for mavs fans then watching them lose. What are your thoughts.

first off avery will have never brought us a champion but he is a good coach

second im glad hes gone hes not the right man for the job

third d'antoni is prolly gonna get fired too but where dus that bring us hell make us the offensive beasts we were 5 years ago and we wont play def anymore but i would like him as coach he great unless we use the def very gave us with d'antonis offense then we will be the best ever

fourth rick carlisle and van gundy would be the best options for us i vote carlisle hes just awesoem hes has great def and smooth off he will bring us to finals agen

WE NEED U RICK CARLISLE SAVE THE MAVS

Cuban is simply wrong on this one. Avery Johnson is a great coach. The guy is just two seasons removed from being Coach of the Year. The fact is that the Jason Kidd trade didn't pan out as expected and there has to be a fall guy ... Avery Johnson is that fall guy.

Jason Kidd is playing uninspired ball and has been for the past few years.

The Mavs would have been well served to hang onto Devin Harris.

ok first off if Van Gundy comes here i hope he gets booed the first step he takes on the court... I cant stand that tool bag, he bashed us every game we played with him announcing.  And the man with three first names wouldnt be bad but its gonna be another waste of talent when he turns us into the same team as Nelly did.. Dont want that again. And Howard probably wont be leaving cuz I think Cuban likes him way to much.. I mean come on he wouldnt trade Howard for Kobe what makes you think he is gonna trade him away now.. Just cuz of a party. I agree that made me sick as well but not enough to get rid of him.. I wouldnt mind seeing Rick here coaching us.. I wanted Larry Brown but the Bobcats beat us to that.  Maybe Larry Bird leaves the Pacers org. and becomes a coach.. He knows a little something bout basketball and championships haha. It's time he steps on the court and wins one as a coach.

I think Dirk might be on his way out along with Kidd and probably Stackhouse.. Two of the three are getting old and Dirk is not clutch what so ever. I hate to see him go but I think it would be the right thing to do in this situation.. Get somebody that is young and an explosive player with heart and leadership.. If we can get someone like that without trading Dirk then I think we will be unstoppable. But it doesnt seem like that will happen

Well fellas its time to start this offseason. What do you guys think we should do. Any free-agents out there that you know about. The possibilities of them coming to Dallas... I wouldn't mind seeing us trade Kidd off for some picks and young players and signing Iverson if he opts out of his contract, and gets his act together and realizes its gonna take a team to win a championship. Not a six foot guard who shoots low % from shooting to much. Just looking for some thoughts

I have no more respect for cuban as owner of this historicaly poor franchise. That just about did it for me.

Let's talk about the real question... Sould we trade away Dirk Nowitzski like the Timberwolves did Kevin Garnett and Memphis Grizzlies did Pau Gasol. Dirk's career has been sabotaged here in Dallas...the Mavericks will never win a NBA championship with dirk as the offensive force. Put Dirk with a team that will contend for a championship and head to the basement with our new coach and totally new starting 5 and bench. Better yet, I pray that cuban sell the team...

Don't just blow up this team(yeah right, no trade values), annihilate it! reduce this team to nothing and start all over.

I'm thru with heartless basketball. Good-bye sky high dreams, welcome back hell's basement.

Wow what a joke to fire him. He is one of the top coaches in the game right now. This is a horrible move my Cuban.

Easy on Cuban, I remember like it was yesterday going to Mavs games and being the only one there. I remember when we even came close to beating the Bulls with jordan we would party. This team has become a playoff team thanks to cuban, he isn't the problem. Its this core of guys, they are old and slow. The new league is Paul, Williams, Parker, Alston, Kobe, Roy, Durant and some that I am forgetting. We need young blood and energy lots of it. I just heard a story when i was at lunch that before the sunday afternoon game against denver last month the night before Josh Howard was at a strip club all night with AI and Carmelo. This dude is the problem, he doesn't care about basketball and would rather party and pass at filers after you lose and Avery told the team nobody better party. What does Josh do he does it anyway, time for you to go as well. The main reason you get rid of him is the 29% shooting in the series. We don't have a first round pick so we need to make a big time trade for a young scorer. Cuban is a diehard fan like us and will get some talent in here just who is the question.

This doesn't seem like a very good move. It's not like the team didn't win with him.      &nbs p;    I think Avery got the most effort he could from his players but it only takes a few players to spoil the bunch. Besides I doubt there are many coaches out there any better. Avery won't be out of a job long.

Avery's driven style might of grated on some of his players  and in today's game unfortunately the players seem to have more authority than the coach. Plus Cuban caused friction when he went for Kidd after Avery groomed Devin Harris.

I would of given him one more year and tried restructure the team.  Bass, Dirk, Terry, and Stackhouse are effort guys to keep around but I'd trade Josh Howard, Dampier and maybe Kidd to get a big guy with athletisism who can score and rebound and a younger point guard.

One thing from last night's game that rubbed me wrong was how Avery managed the clock at the end.  The Maverick's did great to get back in the game. I thought they should of called a time out at the 50 second mark to design a play. They lost 20 seconds looking lost. Then with 33 seconds they should of fouled the Hornets to lengthen the game. The Hornets had just missed two free throws. It wasn't coached well and seemed like he was caught off guard by comeback.

There was 33 seconds left down 3, you hadn't stopped them in 4 straight games FOUL. Paul and Pargo just missed 3 free throws and if NO scores game over and they did on a offensive rebound with 4 seconds left. If you aren't going to foul put in your big lineup get rebound and call timeout and put in the 3 point shooters. Terrible coaching once again maybe they were in the wrong hotel last night right avery. If you didn't know he moved hotels in the nba finals 2 years ago after they lost.
