BC Eagle, I differ with you on a few things. First of all, before the draft I said that Chad Henne was probably the BEST QB available, Matt Ryan included. After him, Ryan and Brohm is pretty much a wash, with Brohm slightly ahead. I think Brohm is going to be a starter in the league someday, but it might not be in Green Bay.
Aaron Rodgers knows the team and is the starter. They drafted Brohm because we don't have a legitimate backup on our team. If you can get Brohm to fall all the way to the tail end of the second round, and you need to get a backup for another young QB who has an injury problem (some of you guys need to stop making excuses for Rodgers about his injuries), then you have to pull the trigger.
I believe the Jordy Nelson pick was a little strange, but TT ALWAYS takes best player available. I agree with him on this. Why reach for a player when you can get better talent? Nelson will be a good addition to this team, and I think it spells the end for Koren Robinson. Nelson will come in and be the 4th WR and KR next year, and I see him progressing into a starter opposite Greg Jennings after Donald Driver retires.
The reason we took Matt Flynn with the 7th rounder is because we don't have a legitimate 3rd string QB either. Matt Flynn might push for second string but in no way was he brought in to be the first string guy. It's a 7th round pick and we filled a small whole on the team, there should be no reason to attack this pick. Not to mention, this leaves McCarthy to train Brohm and Flynn, probably setting them up for trades in the future (the Packers are good at turning these picks into higher picks in the future by polishing young QBs).
Finally, the OT we got are probably both pretty good. Josh Sitton was a value pick, as no one even knew who he was until UCFs pro day when the scouts went to look at Kevin Smith. One scout on NFL.com had Sitton as a top 50 player before the draft, so some people see some good things out of this kid.
Breno Giacarmozzi (sp?) at the least is a pretty good athlete. He's 307 lbs and played both OT and TE. He was brought in for OT obviously, but it shows that he can move pretty good, and TT likes agile linemen.
FYI, you should look up where we drafted Mark Tauscher, Chad Clifton, Moll, and Spitz.
