Well, what do you think? I think the trade was good , gained picks, only moved down 3 spots, but what do you think about drafting Lawrence Jackson? I think it was a pretty good pick, I guess the TE will come later.

Personally, I thought it was a horrible decision, especially when topline wide receivers were on the board like Sweed, Thomas, Kelly. We need a playmaker, read Jacksons combine report, not that encouraging. Now Dustin Keller is off the board, i think we should trade up in the second and secure Fred Davis, john Carlsson, Limas Sweed, Malcolm Kelly, Devin Thomas if they are still there. Should look in the 3rd round for a runner.... like Steve Slaton, Mike Hart.

I know he's a great player but I was hoping for a receiver. Especially with Branch recovering and Hackett leaving town.
But I'm not upset. Definitely a solid choice.

OK so we got our Tight End now.........why is it that I can never feel comfortable though? We're supposed to ignore a poor senior season?! Ha!
I'm just playing the role of the stereotypical Seattle sports fan...never happy, always complaining.
I'm satisfied with how the draft is unfolding so far.

I would have rathered Fred Davis, who I think would have lasted til their initial pick, but this is still a solid pick.

LIMAS SWEED was on the board and we didnt pick him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they gave up too much to gain 18 spots for carlson. when will seattle wake up and smell the roses. you need a playmaker WR, something we haven't had for years.
Lawrence Jackson was a waste of a first round pick.... shouldve gone like this....
Limas Sweed.. 1st
John Carlson or Fred Davis 2nd (wouldve been there at 55)
Steve Slaton, Mike Hart 3rd.
But NO!!! cos Ruskell is a moron!!!!!!!!!! no superbowl next year. good night Hawks.

I am dissapointed. I expected them to take a WR, there where some great WRs still left i think that would have been a better choice.
But other then that i think the guy they picked seems like he's got Talent even though i think it was a mistake to pick a DE first pick.
And no, Ruskell is not a moron. He has had some really great drafts i have respect for the man.

Carlson was a great pick, might be the best TE in the entire draft.
I hate the Lawrence Jackson pick though, I hope he proves me wrong.

Doesn't matter now, i always get pumped the week before the draft and every year Tim Ruskell never seems to pick the superstar quality players. a star wide receiver along with Carlson would've been a nice days work. Hasslebeck doesn't have enough weapons and this hurts our offense. I thought the defense was fine, just needed to fine tune certain areas. I think Brendan Mebane did a good job and will only improve in his second year.
I have absolutely no problem with taking a TE in the second, but our whole strategy was blown away when they selected Jackson in the 1st. Now with no 3rd round pick, it's going to be hard to select anymore real playmakers/superstar quality WR'S.
I hope we pick Steve Slaton. He was touted top 5 pick last year. He'll help the running game.
Gee the Redskins, Chiefs and the Steelers had a great first day!!!!

Holmgren thinks he's the smartest guy in the room. He's not. I've watched Holmgren overpick people on the first day every year. Michael Boulware, Lofa Tatupu and Leroy Hill worked out. But then we grabbed guys like Chris Spencer and jeremy Stevens who didn't. He just gets a huge chubby for a player and won't be denied.
Thus, the Notre Dame TE. He obviously loves Carlsson, who's certainly not the worst fit. But we could have sat and waited on him and, yes, taken a potentially game-changing WR--take your pick between Sweed, Thomas, Jackson and Malcom Kelly. Or grabbed Ray Rice, who'll be a really nice RB given a decent line.
I like the USC kid. He's been a winner all his life, surrounded by the best competition for his age group. Read his bio. Lawrence jackson will start for us, and Ruskell knows his Trojans.
I'm curious what we do on day 2. I'd love to see us grab Manningham and Doucet Sunday, and hopefully trade Branch. Speaking of whom... how does the Seattle media let the Hawks off the hook for that trade??? That was perhaps the most idiotic move I've seen the Hawks make--a 1st rounder for a receiver??? Are you kidding me??? Can we get a 5th round p | |
