In this game you all should know that it starts up front with the DL and OL. We had a hole at DT that needed to be filled and Balmer is a big strong body that will keep guys off of Willis and the rest of the line backing crew. Giving them free lanes to ball carriers or straight to the QB for a sack or a hand in his face at the least. Something we struggled with the last few seasons! Then you cant go wrong with OL at any point in the draft especially since Baas is down already and Allen is at the end of a great career. I personally think I watched it end half way through last season.

I know, I know. We could use another WR. But the fact is none really stood out as "that guy" they were all up and down on everybody’s draft boards. The guys that are left I think have just as good of a chance at making our roster. Here’s a list if you haven’t checked already.

Jason Rivers - 6'2, Hawaii, 4.55 in the 40 and was also coached by the Niners in the senior bowl.

Andre Caldwell - 6'1, Florida, 4.37 in the 40 and was also coached by the Niners in the senior bowl.

Early Doucet - 6'0, LSU, 4.56 in the 40.

Adarius Bowman - 6'4, Oklahoma St, 4.69 in the 40.

Mario Manningham - 6'0, Michigan, 4.59 in the 40.

Adrian Arrington - 6'3, Michigan, couldn’t find his 40 numbers but just like the rest of these guys he can play the position.

I could make a good list of LB’s also but I think you should get the point by now. I actually think we have a good WR crew this year so I don’t understand the fuss. Couldn’t hurt to grab one of these guys I understand that but I don’t think its as big of a need with Bruce and Johnson coming in.

I like the picks so far and I look forward to our third and fourth selections. Go Niners!

I personally think the next pick will be Caldwell if he is still there if not i think it will be a linebacker like maybe Adibi, Connor or Woodyard!

Just because some receivers are gone does not mean the best receivers are gone and if we can find other good players why not take them and address other positions.

Dan Connor ILB he was the top rated ILB and is still on the board adding him with Patrick Willis could give us the top rated ILB duo in the league.

Justin King CB could be a first round prospect he has all the tools and shows flashes just has to put it all together.

King Dunlap OT he has all the tools just needs to put it all together he is a huge man and could be a great addition as he is 6'9" and 312 lbs take him late and maybe could be a guy that should have been a top pick.

Mario Urrutia WR he is a big receiver at 6'5" and runs a decent 40 time of 4.6 so he could be used as a possession receiver and with a late pick worth the risk.

As a team we need to take players that are the best available no matter the position and will help improve the team as a whole.

Balmer was the consensus 3rd best DT in the draft and a a 1st round pick.  Rachal was the consensus 2nd best offensive guard and a 2nd round pick.  Our two biggest needs were defensive line and offensive guard.  Every wide receiver in the draft had something wrong with them and none of them were considered a true number 1 WR.  You need to chill.  I am angry that we didn't draft Cliff Avril in the 3rd round because we need a replacement for Tully Banta-Cain but I don't mind the selection of Reggie Smith because we also need help at corner and safety

I read somewhere that we are still in talks with free-agent Takeo Spikes, and he is in no hurry to sign with until after the draft..  I think we are just waiting to see how the draft goes.

You are correct, though,  it doesn't look like we are going to address OLB through the draft.

We did we just selected Larry Grant from Ohio State. I still think that we can get Takeo Spikes to improve our D.

I like Larry Grant, and I saw him make quite a few great plays at Ohio State.  He is going to help because he plays all over the field, and I think he will earn a backup job this year.  I think the main knock against him was that he ran a slow time at the combine.  I do remember him getting run by a few times in college, so here's to hoping he improves.  I am glad we are taking a chance on him.  I agree that we should still get Takeo Spikes, though.
