that is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard. If you are that wrapped up in your conference that you would sacrifice a big bowl loss every year so that a different team in your conference would win the national championship, then you are no fan of your team. It confounds me that you are that confrocentric. UF and LSU beat up on tOSU in the national championship, yes, but you can only take credit for one of them. You never saw Cal or UCLA bragging about how good they were when USC won their NC, did you? It is amazing how y'all down south seem to take on an "us against the world" menatility. Anyway, I just think that is a crazy thing to say "SEC officail" (wow, i hadn't noticed the name til now, and all i can say is wow). I would rather my buckeyes win there bowl and every other B10 team lose theirs, than have the opposite happen.

You're pathetic SEC Official, just stop watching football if you're going to be like that on a freaking message board. I'd honestly hate to meet you in real life if you're that snobbish off the computer. Go Illinois/USC!

I do not understand what is so wrong about wanting your conference to do well.  We are proud to play in the SEC and we care about our teams.  We are very fortunate to see several very good, down to the wire, games every weekend.

If my favorite team, Alabama, is 6-3 and playing LSU, who may be undefeated, of course I am going to pull for Alabama.  If Alabama wins, I will be very happy.  However, if LSU wins, I will still be happy for them and their national title hopes (while I am upset about the loss).  Is this so wrong?

Rampager and SteelRodent,

You all are the idiots.  I went to UF, my entire family are UT alum, and I grew up as a Alabama / Auburn fan.  I recently moved from S. Florida to North West Arkansas for work and have enjoyed watching the Hogs play.  When it comes to SEC competition I root for the gators... but when the SEC plays another conference I will always support the SEC.  And to me, given all the debate this year on these boards between Big 10 fans saying their conference is better in thread after thread after thread... I will gladly accept an SEC national championship at the expense of the Gators, especially over a big 10 team.

However, Lucky for us Gators I think we will challenge for the national championship for years to come so I feel blessed to have the best of both worlds.

What is wrong with supporting your conference?  And the statement "I would rather my buckeyes win there bowl and every other big 10 lose theirs..." only proves my point for my about the mentality of your fan base.  Would you really sacrifice the conference for your beloved Buckeyes?  That is selfish.. because then you will have to suffer with people saying you play in a weak conference and belittling the Buckeye's accomplishments.

Sorry, but I have a great time watching the SEC battle each other each year... I would never want my team to be the only team competing in the conference (which is what SEC basketball looked like this year which was not very exciting...)

So, the two of you need to look a little deeper under "what it means to be a fan."

I am a Gator fan, and SEC fan, and a college sports fan.  At the end of the day, I enjoy watching OSU vs. Michigan.  Should I be ashamed?  I mean, UF is not playing and the SEC is not playing.. should I not take enjoyment in a Big10 game?

You are embarrassing to the Buckeye fan base and maybe a logical Buckeye fan will come post to save face for you two.... because at the end of the day most people would agree with my original post of supporting my conference in the championship even if it was at the expense of my own team.

Go Gators...and more importantly GO SEC.

Keep drinking your KoolAid...

Rodent,

Not sure about the "snobbish" comment.  I can't find anywhere I was being snobbish.  Competitive? Sure....

So anyway, if you can put together an intellectual post with some support I would be happy to be labeled a "snob" if you can prove it.  Normally a sting of sentences put together (i.e. paragraph) with some analytical skill could help.  I look forward to your response...
