It is really quite simple. If Chad wants to play elsewhere, write the Bengals a check for 8 million (as they wrote him for signing his five year contract (bonus of 10.5 or 11 million).
The cap hit of 8 million would hurt the Bengals this year, but having a player getting a 11 million dollar bonus for playing two years (not counting salary and benefits) is the stumbling block.
The bonus money has been paid so they can't rework the contract. So, have Chad pay back the 8 million he did not earn and then tear up the contract and trade him to the highest bidder.
It amazes me how as a society we put up with whiny and kicking and screaming adults. I didn't put up with it with my kids so even the thought of an adult doing it sickens me.
By the way, Chad won't give back the money because it is about the money. He wants more of it, if not he has a very easy solution to his problem, otherwise shut up and honor the contract you signed and keep the bonus money (paid upfront) you are still earning the next 3 years.
