We as New England sports fans are any but bandwagon or fair weather fans. When our teams do well we are the loudest supporters. When our teams are not living up to our expectations we are the loudest critiziers. Win are lose we are there in mass. Even if its with bags on our heads to show our disapproval. We may tell each other how much our teams have blown goats in the past, but if an outsider bashes our beloved teams, we take em out. plain and simple. We bleed our team colors, we live and breathe as a nation of supporters. Fair weather does not even exist here in New England.

dblake, I agree with everything you have to say, except for the last line of your post.

I do see that we have a high amount of fair-weather bandwagon fans. But the reason for that is because we have more fans of the Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics, and Bruins than most any other team in all of the four major sports... except maybe the Yankees. Because we have such a populated fanbase inside of New England, and nationally, we have a large amount of bandwagoners... who aren't true sports fans in my opinion.

To say that we are all fair-weather fans is an extremely dumb and ignorant thing to say. Just like Mike Bibby's comments were.

Unless you live in New England, you just don't know how it is, and don't have the right to say jack... that is, unless you want to make an ass out of yourself.

Kudos to the people on these boards that look like silly donkeys right now for thinking that way.

And to the owner of this thread...

Speaking for myself... prior to the Kevin Garnett trade, and prior to our dismal season last year, I was buying Celtics' merchandise like shirts, shorts, and a Paul Pierce jersey, and have always worn them proudly... including wearing them throughout last season when we just plain sucked.

Also, the last time I bought Patriots' gear was in 2000 when the Pats went 5-11.

We have more fans than most franchises do, and more bandwagoners because of that. But we still have more lifetime die-hard fans than most, and that makes Boston fans some of the best fans in the world.

You don't live here, so you don't know how it is in New England. You, like Mike Bibby, don't know what you are talking about. Ignorance is not bliss.

Come to New England for a while, then talk about us as being bandwagoners.

well perhaps i was a little nieve with the last line.  My thought on wearing gear to support your teams... how many people actually look good wearing green. to be honest I dont have much Celtics gear. I do have a pierce Jersey but thats hanging in my "Mantown"  right next to the Manny and  Brady Jerseys and my mural of Fenway.  Un till they came out rocking the Jersey with thegold letters did i like the style. Its sports not a freakin fasion show. there are other ways  to supoport your team then by the 65 $ official jeresy and 30 $ shirts and thats what makes New england sports the best, its the  fan base not how many people are wearing green. We are a rabid bunch and fight tooth and nail for our teams.

There were plenty of people wearing Celtics gear in my area last season, and I was one of them.

People can say all they want about our fans. It's a free country.

But it's foolish to do so unless you know how it is, and anybody who doens't live here doesn't know how it is. So you are all fools to even think what Mike Bibby said was right.

People appear to be jealous of all our recent success with our sports' teams as of late, and the easy thing to do is hate, just because they can.
