It just came out on Colin Cowherd's radio show.. Via Chris Mortensen- The Redskins offered thier first this year and their first next year we said NO! I mean I don't even know what to say... We aren't going to win the superbowl this year... So Pull the Trigger.. This reminds me of the Rickey Williams deal but we had to have Akili Smith... YUCK!!!!

I am from Dayton.. So Indy and Cincy are both close cities.. I really should consider changing teams... I mean as long as Mike Browns is at the helm we are DOOMED!

I'm in dayton too so id suggest just choosing one way far away instead of close.
Anyways, this is the type of deal the Bengals HAVE to jump on. When you can get rid of cancer and recieve 2 high picks in return, one being in the middle of the first round, where you could grab a good RB, WR, OT, DE, DT, YOU HAVE TO DO IT!
Hell, if they do take the trade, they could then trade both first round picks for someone like the Rams to draft Vernon Gholston!
Shame on Mike Brown for failing to run a competant front office.

They also said their are ways to absorb the 8 million cap hit and that is not the snag in the deal... It is Mike Browns priciples that is keeping the cancer here... Not the 8 million cap hit...

It was actually Redskins first round pick this year and 3rd round next year that could have been a first if both Chad Johnson and the Redskins reached certain standards. The Bengals have already informed the Cowboys, Redskins, and Eagles that Chad Johnson WILL NOT be traded. What the hell kind of point are the Bengals trying to make? That they wont trade a clearly unhappy player? I am a Jaguars fan and we have been discussing bringing a little Ocho down south.

Screw principals, this is the type of deal that turns franchises around. You can get 2 quality defensive players with that plus your own picks from this year and next year. 4 first round picks in 2 years. That gives you a young core of players with the lack of criminal records. No bashing intended. If you are a Bengal fan this sucks, but if your a rival team within the division, this is the type decision that makes you smile and say "I'm glad we have the Bengals in our division." Again there is no bashing intended.

ouch...that just hurts. In an earlier post I said I would be happy with a 4-12 season knowing Chad was rotting at home. I said someone needed to sack up and stand up to Rosenhaus' bullying tactics and Chad's crying. I said I was glad that Brown was a stubborn, cheap curmudgeon. but that was when I didn't think anyone would offer potentially 2 first round picks for this clown. On one hand I'm glad Chad can't manipulate his way to getting what he wants, but on the other hand principles can be a pain in the a$$, especially when those principles don't include fielding a solid team.
Just think about the players they could get with that extra pick this year:
Sedrick Ellis at 9; Felix Jones or Mendenhall at 21; Curtis Lofton at 46; Earl Bennett at 77. That's already a successful draft and you spend the rest of the picks on O-line and D-line depth and get a WR or DB who can return kicks/punts. Oh, what might have been...

The only forseeable way i can see that they are not taking this trade is if they are holding out until draft day to see what they will get. Hoping that the longer they hold out maybe the more a team like the Cowboys might give them 2 first rounders this year instead of 1 this year and a conditional next year. Either way Chad cannot get off this team soon enough.

I initially hoped this was the case as well when I heard the news, but then remembered that we are talking about Mike Brown. He is 1/10th the football mind his father was and if you look at the official scouting dept, one full time scout, he is the equivalent of an old miser rubbing his nickels together. I read that Cincy was offered a one and an additional pick that could be better next year and nearly jizzed in my shorts. I would make this deal and draft Hardy out of Indiana at #21 then throw lobs to him down the field all day, but what do I know. If they don't make this trade and end up getting less for him or cutting him later I hope there's a riot at PBS.

I wont Riot! I will give my season tickets away... And get put on the waiting list at the new Lucas Oil Stadium... I meannn I really don't even know what to say anymore about the Who-Deys... I am almost DONE defending them... I guess if the Bengals screw this up only thing to do is quit going to the games and root on somebody else that is commited to winning football games First... If the Colts want to find new markets start advertising in Dayton because it seems we are heading back to the 90's era...

Regardless of whether the trade would be good or bad for the Bengals it comes down to simple math. The Bengals can not trade or release Chad without taking an 8 million dollar cap hit this year. That would mean cutting some starters. If they wait to do something after June 1st then they can spread that out over a couple of seasons. NOTHING will happen until June 2nd at best. The Bengals would be foolish to do anything before.

The simple math is not so simple... The 8 million dollar cap hit is really only 5 million.. I don't understand why?? If we traded Ocho for draft picks they would give us more money to sign our picks in the rookie pool.. Pollack has retired more cap space... Basically they made it seem like the Bengals were just using the 8 million cap hit as an excuse...
