So what dooes everybody think about this guy?  I personally like him.  He had tremendous speed and can play some great defense.  Remember his catch last year in Pittsburgh.  His offense is raw, but that can always be improved with good coaching.

Well regardless of what some might say right now id say keep him. He may not be batting very well but that can change at any moment with a nice streak. His fielding is alright along with his speed.

It's hard to play well when don't...um...play.  He needs to get more starts.  Every time I see his name in a box score, it's as a pinch hitter.

Package him with Zito and trade him. Speedy outfielders we got. Find one cornerman who can hit 20 hrs for the two of them.

I say we keep him.  Yeah of course if we could send him in a package with Zito to help us get rid of Zito then it we should do it but lets be realistic cause thats not happeneing.  Lets keep him.

I would keep him for now. I'm not sure he should be starting, but keep him. Having said that, if the right deal came along, I wouldn't hesitate to trade him.

Yes, I remember that catch he made last year. That was nice.

As I've stated in other posts, the guy simply does hot have a skill set that seperates him from the overcrowded mess that is our outfield roster. He is just too average at everything but speed, and Velez trumps that. I thank him for helping us rid ourselves of the horrible Morris contract but its sayonara time for Hajji...

Davis was DFA yesterday and the Giants called back up from AAA Fresno Yabu and purchased the contract of Emmanuel Burriss.  Burriss can play 2B or SS and has very good speed. Was hitting .258 with 6 RBI, also 2 SB with Fresno.

I've seen him play a couple of times. He is fast, just not sure about his hitting.

The answer is neither. He got waived which I think is a mistake. He only had 18 abs and played pretty well last year.

Interesting! The guy has some skills (speed, defense) and some holes (that is, in his bat).

I think when a so-called "prospect" is his age, you call a dud a dud. Not everyone turns into an All-Star just by virtue of getting playing time.

I like the Giants' inclination to move on, and provide time to another young guy, Manny Burriss, who shows some promise.

By the way -- heard it on the ESPN east coast game tonight -- did you know that the lowest batting averages in the Majors among guys who have started every game belong to Brian Bocock.... and Ryan Howard?

I think the move is pretty typical and consistent with the Giants front office mentality over the past several years - give up on a guy they didn't give much consistent opportunity to demonstrate anything.  They designated the wrong guy for assignment.  It should have been Dave Roberts, Rich Aurilia, or Ray Durham.

SFHawks24

the reason the Giants designated Rajai Davis for assignment is to get some infield help by bringing up Emmanuel Burriss to give Brian Bocock some time off and another option.  Lately the only use for Davis has been pinch running and Burriss is plenty fast as last season he stole 63 bases between levels in the minors.  For not designating Rich Aurilia and Ray Durham is because we have to have backups at 3B and 2B so they can't go just yet as nobody in the minors is ready for that.

I myself want to see Rajai Davis traded he has lived his purpose got rid of Matt Morris and now we need to trade him to someone.  I do not want him in AAA as he will take playing time from either Nate Schierholtz, Clay Timper, or Brian Horwitz each of these three had great years last year and are younger as Davis is 27 and none of them are over 25 so we need him to go.  We have speed that is not what we need and your preaching to the choir of trading the older players but the guy that needs to go is Randy Winn as getting rid of him will allow us to bring up Nate Schierholtz for good he deserves it and Winn would bring a decent return from a contender.
