It is no secret the Jets need stability at the QB position.  But think the jets will select QB Matt Ryan with the 6th overall selection, and i have to say i wouldnt be suprised/unhappy with the pick.

We fixed most of out need through FA

Why not take the best QB in this draft class who has all the physical tools to become "elite".  The kid is very football smart, can make all the throws, and has the height and poise of a true NFL QB.  Im a big Kellen Clemens supporter and i want him to lead this franchise but im not NFL scout and if they all agree that Ryan is special then it has to be true.

We have one of the best offensive lines (on paper), 2 very good RB's, and 2 veteran above average WR's in Jerricho Cotchery and Laveranues Coles.  With the obvious intent of running the rock it will make the QB life easier and make the transition from college to the pro's easier for him.

The BC team wasnt Matt Ryan and someone else the entire team was Matt Ryan he was their indentity he has everything you need in a Franchise QB.  Some say he doesnt have a very strong arm, sure he's no Jarmarcus russel but he can throw it far enough ive seen him play living in NJ and i know he can throw a deep ball.

In the draft Vernon Gholston and Darren McFadden will most likely be gone before we select and ill be the 1st person to say we should select Matt Ryan and then in the 2nd round we can get a tall receiver ala James Hardy who is a 2nd round prospect and will most likely be there when we select.

yeah but i dont think that matt ryan will be there.. i think the Falcons take him, they havent done anything to make you think they wont, they have harrington and redmen come on theres no way that they think they are going to win with that.... anyways i think that the jetst being high on ryan is just a smoke screen so if any teams like say baltimore wants him maybe theyll gives a bunch of picks for ours....... but i dont think thats going to happen gholston or mcfadden will be there and the Jets will draft one of them and if neither are there they trade down, they wont take ryan hes not elite enough above all the other qbs in the draft like henne and brohm or even flacco... we need an elite player with that pick and i dont think ryan is that...

Yo nyj1424,  couldn't agree with you any more about the smoke screen, a whole lot of that will be going on the next couple of weeks. . .i would love for us to land Gholston. . .as far as QB, take a minute and check out the kid from Delaware (Flacco), i like what i'm reading and he should be available at pick #36.

forget ryan and flacco the real sleeper here is josh johnson from san diego state. big arm good accuracy can run and only threw one int the whole year read up on this kid and the only knock on his is that he hasnt faced great competion but neither did big ben and look at him now one of the 5 best qbs in the league. plus we can get johnson in the 4th or 5th round.

I've been away from the Jets message board for awhile now (Rangers playoff run and Yankees opening month), but I haven't stopped thinking about the draft at all...Going into the season there are still plenty of question marks that need to get answered!!!

I have recently posted about moving out of the 6th pick to move down in the draft so we can add another possible 2nd or 3rd rounder...Now we will have to wait and see how things play out, but at the 6th pick there is a possibility of Matt Ryan, Darren McFadden, Chris Long, Sedrick Ellis and Vernon Gholsten being available...I left Jake Long out cause there is no way he makes it past the Chiefs at #5...Those I believe are the 6 best prospects in the draft and those are probably the Jets top 6!!!

There is a strong possibility that Matt Ryan will be there at 6 and I'm not too sure anymore if the Jets should pass him up...He can sit for the year behind Chad Pennington or Kellen Clemens and learn!! If Kellen Clemens has a breakout year, the Jets can do what the Chargers did with Drew Brees/Philip Rivers and what the Browns are doing with Derek Anderson/Brady Quinn...

From what I read is that Jake Long will possibly be in a Dolphins uni and Chris Long in a Rams uni for the 1st two picks...The Falcons are really high on Glenn Dorsey!!! The Raiders are probably going between Darren McFadden and Vernon Gholsten...The Chiefs I believe go Sedrick Ellis if Jake Long is gone...Leaving either McFadden or Gholsten and Matt Ryan...

I'm not like you guys...I don't want Gholsten, so my pick would be either McFad or Ryan!!!

mcfadden or we move down....we don't need matt ryan....wasted pick on our parts..if he slips by the Ravens, he'll drop like qb's in the not to distant past and could fall into the 20s

I would love to draft Ryan.  Clemens is not the answer.  He was a sleeper too... sleepers are great but Monsters like Ryan are better.  Let him sit for this season behind Chad, and get him ready to move in within the next 2 or 3 years.... Its perfect and its entirely possible that we do.  We have addressed every other need via free agency.  I think there is a 50/50 chance we take him.... with the other 50 going to Gholsten.  If they're both gone, well be taking one of these remaining guys Chris Long, Jake Long, D Mac, Dorsey.  Not too bad.  I think the 6th spot is the best in this deep draft.  We stay out of that top 5 salary cap situation, and still add a dominant player.  Whats better than that?

I know Mangini feels comfortable with Clemens and Pennington, so it's unlikely we draft him if he's at #6.
