Does Okalahoma City Sonics sound right to you?
Yes, it really sounds pretty good to me.

The sonic referred to in Seattle has to do with Boeing. But you probably didn't know that OKC is the home of Tinker Air Force Base - when jets still fly "super-sonic". OKC is also national headquarters for the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration). But the reason I like it best is OKC is the national headquarters for Sonic Drive-in, the nations largest Drive-in Restaurant Chain.

There is, however, no expectation the name “Sonics” will be retained. Naming contests and rights just bring more fan attention and participation.

Poor, poor Seattle, if you’d just buy tickets and fill you arena it would have never been an issue – the team would have never been for sale! But little bitty cow town OKC had the NBA highest percentage of capacity in the Ford Arena while the Hornets were in town for two years (and the second highest total attendance). OKC will very likely sell-out season tickets within 30 days of them being offered.

Poor, poor Seattle, wouldn’t pass a bond issue to do anything for their Sonics. Oklahoma City has passed two MAJOR bond issues, which NBA commissioner said placed OKC in the forefront of NBA expansion. Don’t count on getting a franchise to replace the Sonics – you poor, poor sports.

Clay Bennett’s emails and comments might well have been used against him and against relocation IF Seattle had shown even the slightest attempt at retaining their (former) team. So quit your bellyaching and accept the stadium contract buy-out offer or you’ll get the specific performance being requested. The cow town boys will just pay rent on the stadium in Seattle – and let it sit empty – empty – empty. Sure hope you don’t want a concert or convention in the next couple of years.
