As the season goes on, who should be the starting outfield?  I know we don't have much options with Jones contract and he can't be moved, but does he give us the best chance to win.  Most of us have been saying that kemp should start over pierre, but should pierre start over Jones?

I think that Pierre and Jones should be splitting time in center.  Let Kemp and Ethier play full time.  Atleast Kemp has a chance of improving and getting better as he plays more.  Jones and Pierre are only going to decline in the seasons to come.  Jones defense is great but that seems to be the only thing that he brings to the game anymore.

The starting outfield should be Ethier, Jones, Kemp.  No question about it.  Pierre should play two times a week,  or only when those three need a break.

Jones will be fine just as soon as he starts staying with the outside pitches and driving them to the opposite field.

He hit a few the other way last night.  The problem that I'm seeing with him is that he is not getting his bat on the pitches middle in.  He has drawn a few walks but leads the team in K's on a lot of pitches that he should be able to handle.  Pitchers are going right at him and winning.  I agree with the starting outfield you have up there but when Pierre plays I think he should be replacing Andruw more than Kemp at this point.  If Jones can start hitting than I say give the other 2 a breather but Kemp needs the AB''s to get it going and Ethier is about the only one hitting besides Furcal and Loney and is hard to take out of the lineup.  I think Kemp can get it going if he can get consistant starts.

I'm not a Dodger fan but have lived a few miles outside of LA my entire life so I can get a pretty good perspective of what they're doing on an everyday basis. Pierre is hard worker, a great guy and a decent player period. Non pitchers have always been evaluated by 5 tools.....speed,hit for avg,hit for power, fielding ability, and arm strength. With that said JP is a two tool player. His speed is his greatest asset obviously, but his liabilities over shadow his strengths especially on defense. If he played for a lousy team he could most likely be a starting leftfielder and MAYBE a #1 or #2 slot hitter but with the Dodgers his role is best served off the bench, giving guys a day off, pinch hitting for pitchers or even better pinch running. He can steal bags with the best of them but with on OBP that usually hovers around .300 and inabilities to take walks he falls well short of Jones,Kemp and Eithiers' overall skills. Not to mention his $5M salary........YIKES! Nice job Ned, $60M for Schmidt and Pierre! Torre will figure it out though. So, keep hoping and bleeding alot.

The starting outfield should be Kemp, Ethier & Torri Hunter.

Oh wait, that's right. For some reason the Dodgers threw away their free agent money on Andruw Jones instead of investing it in a young exciting centerfielder in the prime of his career.

We all have no choice but to hope that Ethier and Kemp pan out. If the Dodgers weren't willing to part with either of them for Miguel Cabrera in order to finally fill their giant 3B hole than the least they can do is play both of them full time to give them the opportunity to show that they were worth holding onto. That's why there shouldn't even be a question about the two corner outfield spots. It should be Ethier & Kemp all year as much as possible. We all need to see what kind of players they are and hopefully they will be good and we will have 2 out of the 3 outfield spots solidified for years to come.

It sucks that we could have had our centerfielder too. I just can't believe they signed Andruw Jones. Did they not watch him play at all last year? I would rather they signed no one and started Pierre all year. At least that way they could look for a centerfielder at the midseason trade deadline. Now we are stuck with Jones.

Pierre sucks and should be our designated pinch runner and nothing more. I say leave Andruw Jones in the lineup and see if he can break the all-time strikeout mark. And it will be interesting to see who hits more homers between him and Brad Penny. Oh and of course there is the fun of watching to see how much more weight he is planning to gain throughout the year.

The Dodgers failed to address any of their needs during the last offseason. So, now instead of having most of the positions solidified there are still glaring longterm holes at CF, 3B & 2B. It would have been nice if next offseason the only thing the Dodgers needed to address was Jeff Kent's replacement at 2B. But, since we didn't get Hunter or Cabrera we are still most likely several years away from seriously contending.
