Sorry Trempy.. i don't have a detailed response...I'm reserving any judgment until after this season... i believe a GM deserves three years before intense scrutiny... some of those deals are decent...some of those deals are really bad....that's probably the same for a lot of GM's in their tenure

Well, no surprise here....I think he is absolutely horrible.

Worst Non Signing: Greg Maddux
Worst Trade: Edwin Jackson and Chuck Tiffany for Baez and Carter.
Worst Signing: Juan Pierre and Jason Schmidt. Too hard right now to call it
Biggest Head Scratcher: Esteban Loiaza (so have no idea why)
Biggest What were you thinking signing: Grady Little as manager

Best signing: Kenny Lofton. LOL Ya, with all the money he has spent, only on Kenny Lofton was it actually worth it.
Best Trade: NONE! (Its a well known fact Ned had nothing to do with the Ethier trade)

Here is something for you all to chew on:

Going into the 2007 season, the Dodgers were coming off a disappointing sweep out of the playoffs. The only thing this team needed was a legitamate power threat. GO FIGURE!!!! So the big names on the market that year were Carlos Lee and Alfonso Soriano. Both played left field, perfect fit right? And to help matters, JD Drew opted out of his contract, freeing up 11.4 million for that year alone. But Ned had other ideas. He signed:

Mike Lieberthal for 1.150 million (For a back up catcher! He played in like 20 games!)
Nomar Garciaparra for 8.5 million (resigned him since Loney had only hit .342 in AAA)
Juan Pierre 8 million (only doing his yearly salary. But overall it was 5 year, 45 mil deal)
Randy Wolf 7.4 million (a guy coming off Tommy John Surgery)
Jason Schmidt 15.7 million (overall 3 year 47 million)
Luis Gonzalez 7.1 million (there was our big left fielder!!!!!)
Mark Hendrickson 2.9 million (And no, thats not a misprint!)
Randy Seanez 700K
Tsao 330K

So just for that upcoming 2007 season, Ned Colletti...Brain Child....spent a total of 51.78 million dollars.

One more time okay. Ned Colletti spent 51.78 million dollars on 2 relievers, 3 starting pitchers, a left fielder, center fielder, and back up catcher.

Carlos Lee signed for 6 years, 100 million
Alfonso Soriano 8 years, 136 million.
Not so bad anymore huh?

If Ned had relied more on his farm that his scouts built, that Logan White built, that De Jon Watson had built, that even Dan Evans had helped build.....just think about it. Ned has got to go, no matter what they do this season. And so far, it doesnt look good for us if the first 2 weeks are any kind of tell tale sign.

DTown argues that Colletti wasn't involved in the trade for Ethier, but it came on his watch and that was a steal. LA got rid of its biggest head case (Milton Bradley) and got a star on the rise.

Any GM is going to have some deals work out and some that don't. No one is perfect.

But I will credit Colletti for getting the team some short-term help without preventing the young players from coming up as the long-term solution. And most of all, I credit Colletti for the deals he DIDN'T do. Everyone wanted Ethier or Kemp this last offseason. He didn't bite and Dodgers fans should be able to watch those guys lead this team for years to come.

"DTown argues that Colletti wasn't involved in the trade for Ethier, but it came on his watch and that was a steal. LA got rid of its biggest head case (Milton Bradley) and got a star on the rise."

Its a well known fact that Colletti had nothing to do with the trade. Even Andre has given credit to the scout. Ethier has said Logan White was like an adoptive father growing up. Learn your facts there partner.

"But I will credit Colletti for getting the team some short-term help without preventing the young players from coming up as the long-term solution."

So you liked how Ned signed Nomar to block James Loney? Or how about Luis Gonzalez to block Andre Ethier and Matt Kemp? Or what about the short team help signing of Juan Pierre, when Kenny Lofton does the same thing but only wants a one year deal and 3 million. And lets take it farther, could our outfield situation be different if Juan Pierre wasnt taking at bats from Matt Kemp? Sure sounds like blockage to me. Or how about the
