If the courts allowed the same kind of restrictions on constitutionally-protected freedom of the press that they do on constitutionally-protected gun ownership, Freeman would not be able to pass a background check. He barely knows enough about sports to do what he does. When he wanders into politics and the law, he is positively laughable.

I was about to post the same thing but was going to talk about stripping away different Bill of Rights, one by one. First, the right to bear arms, then freedom of the press? People won't be able to shoot guns and Freeman won't be able to shoot his mouth off.

How about this. On the anniversary of when dozens of people were senselessly murdered, why don't you try to raise the level of discourse from your normal troll-like musings, eh? Just a suggestion. We can get back to the I suck, you suck, he sucks colloquialism later.

Oh, and since you appear to have all of the answers to stopping gun violence,  feel free to post your  ideas/suggestions/thoughts on the matter rather than lobbing grenades from your anonymous perch, Sir Hirim Maxim..

Carry on.

I am in favor of keeping the Bill of Rights intact.   If we allow the Second Amendment to be dissolved, it opens the door for all amendments to be dissolved. It was a tragedy and we should treat it as that ,not as a platform for anti- gun laws.

Name calling is rather childish, isn't it Mike? Implying that someone in favor of the Second Amendment is the inventor of the machine gun is rather far fetched.

Or how about this. On a website devoted to sports, why don't you write about.... SPORTS, maybe? You really should leave the heavy "smart" stuff to those better equipped for it. And thank you for recognizing my troll-like musings as "normal", something to which you yourself might aspire someday.

As to stopping gun violence, I have the perfect solution. We should just throw the nigh-unto-omnipotent intellectual prowess of SPORTS GUYS onto the problem. With the integrity of a Mike Freeman, the moral rectitude of a Sean Salisbury, and the deep wisdom of a Jay Marriotti on the task, we'll have that social scrourge on the run in no time flat!

And yes, I know how to spell, "scourge". I freely confess to being an inept typist, and begrudgingly admit that I am an impatient proofreader.

Reggie: Please be extremely careful when calling someone else dumb when you spell the way you do.

Oh, and as for this being a sports site, yada, yada. Did you notice the New York Yankees visiting Va. Tech? Did you read the basketball coach at Virginia Tech speaking so eloquently? I'll double check but the Yankees are a sports team. Seth is a basketball coach. If they can delve into this topic, anyone can.

There are topics and issues that cross into all kinds of arenas, ol' Reggie. You can get back to debating the fine points of the 40-yard dash any time you'd like pal.

Pulling your galoshes out of the primordial message board muck once a decade won't kill you, will it?

And if you ever compare me to Sean "Cell Phone" Salisbury again, I'll bust you down from Superstar to private.

Carry on.

Mike, I am starting to see a disturbing pattern in your articles.Last week, your article about the NFL players' union and the one today seem to be about denying people's rights. Last week you felt the members of the players union should not have a voice in their own union , and today you are for crippling the Second Amendment.

The Red Sox visited the White House. Does that mean you're going to break down the election for us in your next column? If you are willing to make a connection that tenuous, I can't help you. No VT athlete was even remotely involved in the shootings. There is nothing for them to "recover" from except a feminized "therapeutic" culture. I lived in Virginia for a while 20 years ago. Does that make me a victim, too? Where do I go for my settlement cut?

As for comparisons between yourself and Mr. Salisbury in your chosen field, it's not the size of your cell phone, it's how many minutes you have on your plan. As of right now, you are gainfully employed and he is not. Score one for the BMF. But I would trust your socio-political meanderings about as much as I would trust his.
