Lol I like how I am not an idiot for thinking its not unreasonable to make players work hard. Like I said, UK struggled more than they should have early in the year. I wasn't debating that. But blaming Gillispies conditioning on all the injuries is pretty funny. Jasper and crawford's knee injuries at the beginning of the season occurred long before practice started in october, but I agree that we should blame them on BGC anyways. I'm sure it was gillispie's fault that meeks fractured his pelvis taking a charge in an exhibition game. Or that bradley got a concussion because of a hard foul, or had the flu and missed a few games. Definately those were the fault of gillispie's conditioning program. I could see how someone could make a case that Patterson's injury could have been aided by the increased workload. Ultimately we'll never know. But gillispie did ease off the kids once SEC play started in terms of intensity and workload.
The thing is if BGC were to leave who would UK get? I suspect they'd go after billy donovan one more time, if he turns UK down then who. Travis Ford, John Pelfry? I love the former UK players, but they are entirely unproven. BGC has proven he can be a winner, and he's proven he can recruit. Even if you claim that UK got patterson because of tubby's work, he's still recruited good players like Joseph jones, DeAndre Jordan, DeAndre Liggins, Darius Miller and such.
Ford could be a great coach. But I'd hate to see UK throw its coaching spot to someone who's so unproven. I just dont think UK would be in a better spot we're he to leave. Plus one year isn't enough to show anything. He should be given more than 1 year to prove he can turn uk into a winner again.
