Getting off to a hot start is great, because it increases the odds the O's can deal old expensive guys like Mora and Huff to a real contender. I hope they continue to kick ass, then unload a bunch of old(er) players like BRob, Huff, Millar, Mora, Sherrill, etc for some great young guys.
We're trying to build for the years to come. This is great so far, but we gotta keep our eyes on the prize.

Yes at least the O's do have a plan led by the proven Andy McPhail.

We don't have to get back to reality until reality sets in. Until then the reality is that the Orioles don't suck!

Over the last few seasons, we have seen several teams emerge from low expectations to post solid seasons that have turned the franchise around, ie Detroit, Milwaukee and Cleveland to name a few. Do I think it will last all season, probably not, but could it portend a great revival for baseball in Baltimore. The team is stocked with high level prospects on the mound and in the field, so seeing guys perform well is no surprise. All I'm saying is just don't count them out yet.

MDelz,
You live in MD but you blast the home town team for coming out to a good start. Yeah I don't follow baseball as close as football, but I still support the home team(even though I now live in NC).
I stood behind them when they started off the season 0-21.
Do I think they need a new owner, YEAH BUDDY. Peter Angelos has killed he O"s Way. Yes they have aging veterans that don't deserve the contracts they have. Because younger guys would come in and play for less money.
So, I'll support my HOME TEAM. I may not like baseball but I stick behind the hometown boys.
Peace

Mora and Roberts are 2 of the most consistent players on the team rite now and Millar is def the leader in the clubhouse so i definately dont want any of them to be traded. im not a big Huff fan so i wont complain if hes dealt. but one young player on that team that i would like them to get rid of is Daniel Cabrera. im tired of waiting for his "break out" year. theyve been saying that for 3 years now and it hasnt happened. hes losing velocity on his fastball which he topped out at 94 mph during his last start against the Mariners. and hes still inconsistent. hes working on a splitter which he threw a few times during that game which is encouraging seeing how all he ever threw was a fastball that had no movement and a curveball that every batter sat on and drove over the fence. but really how many years is it gonna take him to finally have everything click?

Some people are shouting PLAYOFFS! and that's silly.
What's equally silly is writing the season off as a complete wash because we went for youth and shouldn't contend for a couple years. I love the way this team is playing ball. They're winning the winnable games because they're playing fundamental ball and they have a lot of young talent. If this attitude sticks, then the players will continue to improve and new acquisitions will slip into the mold easily, and by 2010-2011 we'll put a winning product on the field.
If we lose 100 games but keep up this level of intensity and develop the players who are capable of development I'll still be content. I think more likely we'll lose 80-90.

By no means is anyone thinking they are great, but they are playing as a team and with heart, continue to hate. That Orioles Magic may bite you in the ass, it has been long overdue.

What is your problem? How many Orioles fans actually think that we have a chance at the playoffs this year? It's somewhere close to 0%. This may be the only time we get to enjoy winning all year so what exactly is the point of "raining on our parade?"

What is the reality? Do you know what the standings will be at the end of the season? If preseason predictions determined how teams would end up, why even play the games? I'm not saying they're winning the World Series but let's see what happens. Pointless comment MDelz - thanks.
As a fan, you have to enjoy when your team is doing well. Live in the moment - the Orioles are the best team in the AL!! (right now)

MDelz are you one of those traders that is from MD and now likes the Nats cause they have a new stadium? You probably also say that you hate the O's cause their owner sucks (even though you are a Redskins fan despite Dan Snider). Well the rest of you haters that like the Nats cause you thought the O's would suck can enjoy your losing streak and your Ben's chile bowl. The rest of us loyal fans will enjoy an exciting season even if it ends up being another sub 500 one.

Let me guess who your team is. Let the O's fans enjoy the run. Nice thing about O's fans are they stick with the team no matter what. Don't be bitter that some rookies and no-name players are kicking ass!

Let's Go O's!! I'm really hoping to see a .500 season this year, I've waited way to long. I don't know about the playoffs, but at least try to be a bit positive, MDelz. I see you're from Germantown too. Show some Maryland pride.
