....how about giving him some props for a job well done since.  Lidge was unavailable after pitching two days in a row, [Please don't tell me you were dumb enough to want him to throw 3 days in a row after just coming off the DL] and Gordon stepped up.

I'm not saying he's money, I'm saying he is serviceable and will be needed in a long season.  Last year Alfonseco saved our season after he closed for a couple weeks when people got injured.  That doesn't mean I want his 24 digits in a Phillie uniform come strech-time, but he got the job done when we needed it.  Lidge closing...Gordon/JC setting up, depending on match-ups, will work.

If Maddog, Mathison and/or Durbin can pitch well, the bullpen could be very good as opposed to the trouble spot it was expected to be by the so-called experts.

Phillies Fever -- Catch It!!!!

Absolutely a great job today. Well done, Flash. He still scares the bejesus out of me, though. I don't mind him as a situational pitcher (preferrably in the 7th), but I get scared in the 9th. Tell me you weren't a little scared.

Following at work, figured he was coming in.  Got a call and by the time I was off, GAME OVER!.  He's pitching with a partially torn ladrum so I have some concerns.  When he's pitching well and 100% healthy, I actually like him more than most Phils' fans.

We can't have everything.  People bash the Phils management for what we don't have and completely ignore what we do, which includes the last two year's MVPs, an eventual MVP in Chase, Pat the Bat (who has stopped hitting the bar sacene so much after getting married middle of last year, and is hitting very well since then), an ace in Hamels, a potential ace in Myers, a hopeful very good closer in Lidge, a great inning eater in Moyer (great game BTW), some very good non-super star type players (Shane, Werth, Feliz) and some good potential in Kendrick, Benson, Eaton (one of these days it will click for Adam), Mathieson and a pretty solid bench.

I like the roster.  Hopefully it can improve some more before the trade deadline.

I was not that worried because it was the bottom of the lineup and once he struck out the leadoff hitter i was confident than. He was letting it loose.

Giving Flash props for a job well done is like when people used to give Abreu props for not commiting an error or letting a ball get behind him in right field.  He got absolutely shelled by the Nats.  His next outing he gave up a hit and two walks and amazingly didn't give up a run.  After that he pitched to one batter in a tied game in Cincy and struck out Branden Phllips, a decent one batter showing there.  Then he pitched a 1-2-3 against hte backend oof the Mets lineup and a Jose Reyes that seems to have picked up right where he left off last year....looking disappointing.

Also take into consideration that Flash had a three run lead to work with, so his nerves weren't exactly on edge.  When he delivers with a one run lead against the heart of an order, I'll give him props.

I have to disagree... I think Flash still has some gas left in the tank. I'm not sure that I like him in the closer role anymore but as a 7th or 8th inning guy I think he will be fine.
