I was going to start a thread, but ya beat me to it Mikey, so I'll go with yours...
First off, my hat's off to the Carolina Hurricanes who played an intense season and battled for every inch of ice despite massive injuries. Y'all are a class-1 organization and a proud standard bearer to the SE division.
Next, to the Florida Panthers who shure showed me tonight what they're made of! They are young and raw. They make a lot of mistakes---that a young team will. But while not physical, are excellent stick handlers and passers. They have the future in front of them as a nice, young nucleus and Anderson was an absolute wall tonight! I've seen Jack Martin do it for the Avalanche under Marc Crawford, and turn around the Senators. So next season, Florida WILL be a force.
But the Caps...oh my. This is 7 straight, 11 of the last 12. Only "Phil Espisito night" against the Blackwhawks was a blow-out. They've been gelled for about 6 weeks now. The first team to go from 14th or 15th tothe playoffs EVER! Anyone who'd throwing dirt on us is lunchin. In the playoffs, anything can happen and it doesn't matter who's the best, it's who's the hottest. This team is fully buying into Coach Gabby's plan and show they can withstand a blast, and make adjustments if needed. They don't panic. I look for a fun run, and all I can say is "stay tuned"...

Thank you, Mikey. As a Caps fan I appreciate that. I'm sorry you guys couldn't get in, too. You guys really showed guts this season, and deserved a playoff berth. But we will try to do you proud. I'm hoping Philly loses tomorrow, so that we start off against the Senators. We've been hot against them this season.
Thank you, Caps!!!! This is a fantastic end to a fantastic regular season. Let's push to add one more trophy to Ovie's already monstrous collection this year!

This team has been a pleasure to watch since Bruce stepped behind the bench. That guy is something else. His message since he arrived has been that there is no reason for the boys to suspect they won't be in the playoffs, and here they are. Very impressive.

I wouldn't get your hopes up by wanting to play the Senators. The Penguins completely dominated them last season in the regular season, but got dominated in the playoffs. The Capitals have a good young team, but they are missing 1 thing, playoff experience. I know some one will say that it isn't important, I even said that last year, but one thing I know, it is very important. Good luck in the playoffs and congradulations on winning your division!

Washington just doesn't look like they'll be denied.
Ovechkin is ONE of the best players in the league (Iggy score 50 tonight) - although - not to be a d!ck - enjoy it while it lasts....history shows these Russians (even the Great ones) have about 8 - 9 years in them..tops.
But hey......I LOVE watching it.
Congrats!!!!! You deserve it.

Thanks for the comments mikey, that shows class. I'll echo other posts on the thread, the Hurricanes are a good team, and should be a power next year. It would have been interesting if two division teams had been able to make it.
The Capitals have really put it together this year. As others have posted, to go from 14th at the mid-point to the playoffs has never been done, and only 1 point away from not having been done this year. I think you really have to give it to the Caps on all fronts. The team has come together, the office made some big moves at the deadline to bring in players that had a huge impact, and the fans have really come out.
I plan on being at games 1 and 2. LETS GO CAPS!

to all the canes fans, well i personally didnt see this one coming. i thought that florida was gonna roll over and tae it like a prison inmate, but well the surprised me lol.
to the caps fans, youre welcome lol. seriously, when the Lightning won the SE division, they won the cup. carlonia= cup. unfortunately the thraashers didnt make it out of the first round, but they kinda deserved it cause they sold their future for a chance to win. they didnt have cinfidence in their team and well yea. i think the caps can win it all. i see them facing the Canadiens in the eastern finals. and i see them lifting the cup too. can you imagine if ovie lifts the cup before crosby? that would spark a lot of controversy wouldnt it
