UNC - Kansas is going to be the game of the year! No disrespect to Memphis - UCLA, but UNC - KU is THE game for college basketball fans across the country. The matchup features two of the best offenses in the country. Both UNC and KU boast an incredible amount of sheer athleticism, have phenomenal depth, are led by great coaches, and utilize excellent transition play. I am excited and terrified at the same time. UNC will need to limit turnovers, shoot effectively from the perimeter, and play effective transition defense to come out victorious. This game will probably be played in the 80s, and wow what a game it will be.
Memphis - UCLA should be a phenomenal game as well. I have been very impressed with the manner in which Memphis absolutely dismantled both Michigan State and Texas. The phenomenal athleticism that the Tigers boast was on full display against both MSU and Texas... I had a hard time determining which one of their countless dunks/alley-oops was the best! And obviously nothing needs to be said about UCLA. They are a fantastic program, and seem to always have whatever it takes to win.
I am unbelievably excited for this weekend. I personally think this UNC team is superior to the 2005 National Title squad, but this year's competition is unbelievable. All four teams are legitimate title contenders, and no team seems to have a real advantage. Getting through Kansas is going to take everything the Heels have, and I really hope they play their best game of the year!
