yeah, hack. There used to be bad blood. Like when that Pirates announcer (Rooker?)said he'd walk back home to Pittsburgh from Philly if the Pirates lost a 10 run lead to the Phils back in the 80s.

Classic days.... Classic days, indeed.

Actually, didn't the Pirates get their name because they stole a player from Philly? That was waaaayyyyyyy back. Those teams are old. It may have even been the Philadelphia A's come to think of it.

For those that don't know the story, the guy did make the walk when the Phils came back and won it.

I go with option C!

The Marlins fanbase or the lack there of.

Its simple, Marlin fans show up to the stadium and support your team.  End result more revenue that transpires into a higher payroll.  Alex Rodriquez making more than their entire payroll should be considered a milestone for him.  Ive never met the person that turns down money or takes less than he can get, have you?  Arod haters!!!!

Raised some good dough for charity on the way.

From MLB.com:

<table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" width="525" border="0"> <tbody> <tr valign="middle"> <td class="historyBg3" align="right"> 1891 </td> <td> -</td> <td class="pad7"> December -- The Alleghenies are renamed Pirates after signing second baseman Louis Bierbauer away from the Philadelphia Athletics.</td> </tr> </tbody> </table>

Good call, Red!!!

What that actually says is this:

1891 - The Alleghenies are renamed Pirates after signing second baseman Louis Bierbauer away from the Philadelphia Athletics.

Darn cut and paste function....

The fact that the Marlins ownership does not want to open their pockets and play their players and just trade them away when their price might get a little too high!

The owners in baseball are all rich and just choose to spend their money different. SOme owners care more about winning and some care about keeping costs low.

Here is the response from Marlins managment.

Some owners feel that it takes high priced talent to win championships, other owners realize that there is some unrecognized talent that is more affordable and better suited for the team as a whole than the highest paid players in all of MLB.  Thus it is possible to win championships without paying top dollar for individuals.

This is a made up quote.

I don't know why, I just felt like throwing that out there.  I don't exactly agree with the quote myself, but I imagine that the Marlins management would provide a response somewhat similar to this.

Personally, I am just getting tired of seeing the Marlins roller coaster payroll.  If this were a consistent payroll for the Marlins, that would be one thing.  but considering the ups and downs of their payroll over the last few years, I am just glad that I am not a fan of the Marlins.

A team in Las Vegas, or even Portland wouldn't be a bad idea, but moving them to the AL would bring up a problem.  Then both leagues would have  an odd number of teams and that would create a problem.  - Larry_jones

First off, if MLB puts a team in Vegas, I would imagine that more than 80% of the fans that attend the games there are going to be people that are not even fans of the Marlins or whatever they name the team, if they change the name.  Either that or the attendance would be identical to what they get in Miami, since there are just as many things to do in Miami as there is to do in Vegas.  That is one of the main reasons that attendance in Miami is terrible.  As far as Portland is concerned, that could probably work out as well as the Trailblazers are working outin the NBA.

Second, in regards to moving the Marlins to the AL West when they change lo
