Hey Bags502- First of all, as a Phillies fan, we dont have much faith in our pitching besides Myers and Hamels. We're basing most of our season on our bats, which will keep us in playoff contention all year. The fact is people are writing on this board b/c all we hear about from Mets fans the past 4 months is how Pedro will bring atleast 15 wins this season and is the healthiest hes been in years. I dont wish any pain or injuries on any player. But it just seems Mets fans predict the future and say, "well if we had Santana last season we would have won the division by 15 games and so on. Or "if Moises, Pedro, and Delgado stay healthy we'll blow out the division". When in fact the last few years they haven't been healthy.
As an Eagles fan I totally gave up on saying "well if McNabb stays healthy" b/c every years hes got hurt in the last 4. Something always seems to happen. So I hate when Mets fans make these predictions and are so confident on their season when injuries tend to linger around their old team.
As for the Randy Johnson comment: Who cares???? Randy Johnson is the 4th man in their rotation once he comes back. Have you ever heard of Webb and Haren??? Those are their #1 and #2. Pedro is the Mets #2. It is a big deal if he misses alot of the season. Yes Maine is a great pitcher and can slip in there as a #2 (I wish the Phillies had him). But your comparing apples and oranges when were talking about injuries to #1 and 2's to 3 and 4's.
