Tyler Hansbrough will stay another year

I believe Tyler will return for one reason.  He can only play one more year of college basketball... just one at North Carolina.  He can play as many years as he wants as a pro but can only have the college experience one more year, and then it's done.  He can't decide to go pro and in 5 years decide to come back to play one more year for the Tar Heels.  Hansbrough knows he will not be an allstar NBA play, just a good one.  He'll be drafted low in the 20's and unlike some other past alums will get selected by a winning program.

I hope we win the National Title but, look for Hansbrough to stay.  Lawson has to stay to prove he'll be a healthy player for a full year.  Ellington has nothing to go pro on..  shooting 5 of 13 against Louisville?  That won't even get him into the pro game in other counties.  And that's our biggest weakness.. a shooting guard!

Right now Ty Lawson is having to do Jimmy Black AND Michael Jordans job or Derek Phelps and Donald Williams Job.  Our shooting guard in the 05 Title team, McCants, did not score in the 2nd half.   Raymond Felton had to pick up the slack and he did.  Look for Danny Green to pick up the slack quickly if Ellington starts poorly.  I know Danny did not have his best 2nd half last game because getting 4 stitches over his left eye at halftime bothered him.  He'll be fine this weekend.

Our Guard play has me more concerned than anything else because we only have 2 dependable 3 point shooters, Lawson and Green.  Let's hope they are up to playing 2 more games as hard as they can this season.  The Tar Heels need another Championship Banner to go with the five we already have.  And that's all I have to say about that.  Now..

GO TAR HEELS  -  BEAT KANSAS  as the dookies watch on tv at home.

Don't you think you're a little harsh on Ellington?
Maybe he hasn't had his best games in the NCAAs, but he hasn't needed to.
Don't forget he's averaged 15.5 ppg in the tournament. He also averaged nearly 17 in the regular season.
I agree it's not enough to go pro on, even for a sophomore, but I think he is playing pretty good basketball.

Emerson, I'm going to have to disagree with you.  Wayne has had only three good solid games this year incuding Clemson.  But that's it.  Those of you that know my early post asking Roy to start Danny Green and let Ellington come off the bench still stands with me..

When Roy needed a bucket badly he called a play for Lawson to make the three.  Wayne scores points because he takes alot of shots.  Look at his percentage of made threes.

  • Here is what Wayne should be doing and most shooting guards already do. Be the first option for a three.
  • Slashing to the basket and making dunks or lay ups.  This gets him to the line more often.  He made 1 apperance makine 2 foul shots against Louisville.
  • Be the second option to bring the ball up court which Ginyard to doing now.
  • And here's the biggest thing he has to do, be consistant.  He has to pick one thing he does well and make it become great at is.

It's not personal because I pull as hard for him and any ot the Tar Heels.  We're strong at every other position and I'd love to Wayne prove me wrong.  He has one game, hopefully two games. I want him to be the best he can be but most games he's just jacking up missed shots.  Emerson, I want EVERY Tar Heel to play their best this coming weekend including Ellington.

We'll just have to agree to disagree regarding Wayne Ellington. 5 of 14 from the floor is 35% is not passable with me. Only Hansbrough had more attempts,12 of 17.   However, I'm pulling for him as hard as I can because Roy Williams see's something I don't.  So no more beating up of Wayne this season from UNCle.  I've said my piece.  I love to hear other fan's opinions and I don't want everyone to agree with me. It would very boring if we all agreed on everything.

GO CAROLINA  -  BEAT KANSAS AS

of course wayne shouldnt go right now.

proly the only ones whod be drafted right now would be lawson and psychoT. lawson mid first round, and T late first.

both players could help themselves immensely by stayin another year. hansbrough obviously will round out his game: passing, shooting, blocking. but lawson also could turn himself into a top 10 prospect if he became a lights out shooter.

if we win the next two, i highly doubt lawson returns. hansbrough im not sure about but im still confident hed stay

krazyballa, you can spin it however you want, every good coach loses some players to the pros at some point, my point is, that Roy has an excellent track record for retaining players throughout their college carrier.

So that will make him 30 when he graduates.  He is the Chris Weinke of college basketball.  Bottom line who cares what he does.  If he comes back maybe he can learn how to close his mouth once in a while instead of looking like an idiot all the time running around with his mouth opened all the time.

Hansbrough said coming into North Carolina that he was a four year guy and he loved Carolina and came to Carolina to play for Carolina and that is what he intends to do.  There is absolutely no reason whatsoever why he should enter the NBA draft, even if he wins POY and a national championship the timing is still off.   As someone who is an avid follower of the NBA and college basketball I'm well aware of what it takes to make it in the pros and Tyler Hansbrough, along with every one of his Tar Heel teammates, is not ready for the pros yet (Lawson is close but still not fully ready).

College players take one look at that easy ticket to millions and usually bite too soon and end up having a sub-par NBA career if any at all.  Smart players who really love the game of basketball and wish to truly reach their potential stay in college all four years unless you are a Carmelo Anthony caliber player.  Tyler Hansbrough will have a solid NBA career because of his work ethic and rebounding ability (he will be a Ronny Siekely type player even though some of you may not know who he was).

No matter what Hansbrough and the Tar Heels to this season his draft status would still be higher next summer.  I personally believe Hansbrough would stay in Chapel Hill as long as possible before having to step into NBA territory.  Either way he is a stud, one of the greatest college players of all time if he stays all four years as he would go on to shatter numerous North Carolina records.  He is an intelligent, determined individual and he will make the right choice by returning for his senior year at North Carolina.

After tonight, I don' t think it should even be a question.  If they drafted right now- he wouldn't go in the first round.  Against legitimate big men, he looked totally lost and resulted to being a guard looking for charges against men intimidating him-
