How does eveyrone feel about Riley just missing games to go "scout". your a all a fame coach show some guts and hang in there with a bad team, or maybe he could call Stan Van tell him to take over, then theyll get better again and riley will take over,

I don't like what they're doing at all. Tanking games in hope to get more lottery balls. They should have some pride and stick it out.

I don't agree with this at all. You're supposed to be a hall of fame coach, and you ditch your team to go scout college prospects. That shows a total lack of class, and dedication to his duties as a coach. If Miami's owner is smart, he would fire Riley for dereliction of duty. Karma will come back and bite Miami though, as they will NOT get a top 5 pick in the draft, and quite frankly, I hope that they don't get a top 5 pick in the draft, serves them right for tanking and serves them right for allowing their coach to take days off to scout. I really feel sorry that Marion has to go through this disgraceful season.

What I don't understand is that people are paid to go and see college players, they are called scouts. Can't he just the watch the games on tv anyways? If I remember correctly in the past few years other coaches have gone and taken time off to catch the tournament. I don't blame Riley though if I was coaching the Heat I would find a reason to leave too. It really isn't right to leave your team even if they are by far the worst team in the NBA, show some respect to your players and keep coaching.

He is the team President. It is his personal responsibility to get the team ready to compete again.
He needs to get a good, first-hand look at their next draft pick because 08-09 is a huge year for the Heat.
Wade-Haslem-Marion will be healthy. Daquan Cook is looking like a good shooter. The Heat need a big time draft and some quality free agent pick ups.
I think people forget that Riley has far more responsibility than just coaching.

Viktor, I so agree! It is similar to a mother leaving her cubs to go view the other bears in the park! It might seem appropriate but really show the lack of commitment and focus for what really counts, the players. Just compare how those cubs and players must feel! Ouch!

Where did things go wrong in Miami? A starting lineup of Shaq, Haslem, Davis, Wade, and J-Will should have performed better than it did. The bench lost some key pieces in Posey and Kapono, replaced with the likes of Mark Blount, Dequan Cook, and Smush Parker. But even taking all this into account, should the Heat really have been as bad as they are? Mourning was lost for the year and Shaq and Wade were banged up, but even when everyone was healthy this team was awful. What went wrong?
