Finally! James Dolan did something that is unethical. He did good for the Knicks. Walsh agreed to a 3 year 15 million dollar contract. He is going to wipe the Garden clean. This offseason is going to be perhaps the best one in years. Number one, Crybaby "Starbury" is going to be gone. Next Curry and Q-Rich. Then we can get a Power Center who can block and get rebounds. Then i give either if we draft Beasley or ill give Chandler the starting SF job. Then we have to get another point guard. Success is soon to be coming back to the Garden, maybe in the next 2-3 years.
Yep, Walsh looks like the man. As far the coach is concerned, my vote goes to Mark Jackson. He seems to have the smarts and grit to come in and turn things around. Plus, he and Walsh are tight from their time together in Indiana. Whatever happens, let's not turn things over to Herb again.
Let's not get ahead of ourselves a bit. Walsh is denying the reports of him joining the Knicks, but that could just be because the season isn't over yet and it wouldn't be fair to start working for another organization a day after you just stepped down from the Indiana job.
I hope you are right about the turn around taking only 2 to 3 years. It will take the right coach, but James Dolan can also be big help by just staying away.
I think that Dolan took a step in the right direction by stripping Thomas of his GM position but don't get too ahead of yourselves people. Take a look a the Pacers record and you'll only find them 10 win better than us.That's the reason Walsh step down. Just like Isiah Thomas he has an eye for great talent (can't deny zeke made some nice draft picks. He did draft a guy name McGrady) but just like Walsh just not the right blend of players. There were reports that Jerry West was very intrested in the GM job so why not give it to a proven winner than an average one. Right now i'm not sold on him i hope he proves me wrong.
I think Isiah's problem is that he's lazy. Either that or his intellectual IQ is pretty bad. What makes a good GM? A guy that is willing to listen to his players, fans, and the media. How Marbury has stuck around for so long leads me to believe that Isiah has no B-A-L-L-S to run a basketball program. How do you sit at the Garden day in and day out and not decide to make a change after hearing what the fanbase really thinks about you? I mean you would think that maybe some of that hardnosed type of basketball that he learned from Bobby Knight might have stuck with him, but apparently not. I just get disgusted when I see that pretty little smile he's always strutting around without a care in the world that his reputation as a basketball superstar is going down the drain. Yes, I think any one of us would make a better GM.
I agree that Thomas can't seem to put his foot down and stick to his word when it come to Marbury. The team voted to have Marbury stay home the next day Marbury is at the gym. Since Dolan don't want to fire him why not strip him of his GM title and keep him on as special adviser for the draft because as much as I think Thomas messed up this franchise he has made some nice picks over the year.
Yes, he has made a few nice picks, but selecting Balkman over Williams was a poor one. Balkman would have been available by our next draft pick, which was also in the 1st round, since he was a projected 2nd rounder. Walsh is supposed to become GM with that 3-yr. deal that has not been officially announced, but Dolan wants to keep him on as coach. That is absolutely absurd. He cannot get the respect of his "scrubs" he coaches as they do not respond to him and play careless and effortlessly on all ends of the floor each game. And I agree that he has made some niced picks, but he CANNOT stay on as a special draft adviser. If we are to fire him, he needs to be completely removed from the team. By Zeke staying on at any capacity, there would be a cold reaction from the fans, and in order for us to improve, we need to get rid of the poison (Zeke) and build a positive, winning, hard-nosed attitude like the '90s when we were a force in the league. But for that to happen, Isiah must be competely fired from the Knicks.
i couldnt be happier to get walsh...scratch that...anybody in place of isiah. watching the Knicks used to be great, against the Heat with hardaway and marjele(who suck and are in the same predicament but have won a ring 2 years ago) and the Pacers with reggie and smits...good ridance isiah...the sooner your gone the better!!!
The Heat may suck, but I wouldn't consider them in the same situation as the Knicks. At least Miami has a star already in Dwayne Wade. With a good draft pick they could end up with Rose or Beasley to play with him.
Okay in today's paper they have Walsh as saying that next season's success depends on Stephon Marbury and I for one think that is a respectable idea given that he is under contract and he is still a decent player like i've been saying all along we as the fans don't really know what went wrong with Steph and Management. But I do know that if you balance out the roster and put valuable pieces around this team may very well be in the thick of things come next season. Don't quote me on this but i've been thinking of a trade for sometime now and I need feedback to know if it make sense but I've been thinking of the Knicks sending Zach Randolph and one of our guards to Dallas for Dirk Nowitzski, now the reason for this trade is to free up space in the paint and give the team a deadly outside shooter, also since the Mavs aren't high on Dirk anymore and the Knicks aren't high on Randolph it can very well be an even swap but eventually it would have to come once the who's coming and who's going is situated as a Franchise once again.

There is no way in hell that mark Cuban would give up Dirk, especially not for Randolph. Cuban is a moron, not retarded.
The only team that would take Randolph is someone that wants to free up cap room for his expiring contract. That wouldn't be until the 2010-2011 season.
Furthermore, Walsh would not want to take on a heftier contract for Randolph, who is expected to make $33M in the next two years. The objective is to free up the salary cap.
