Niether conference looked that impressive in the 1st two rounds. Although the Big East won 7 of 8 in 1st round, they are left with only 3 teams after the 2nd round. Only one of the top 4 teams in BE conference made it to the sweet sixteen. To their credit though, 2 of their lower ranked teams have made it. The Pac-10 had 3  teams ousted in the 1st round leaving them with only 3 teams also. They did win all of their 2nd round games though. But, only Washington State has looked that impressive in their victories. Both UCLA and Stanford looked vulnerable to teams they looked a lot better than on paper in 2nd round games. Still gotta believe UCLA is the cream of the crop and an excellent choice to make a run at the title. But I don't think either conference should feel that comfortable with their lofty status going into the tourney. Might be more parity in college basketball than previously thought.

I am not sure if how many teams go further is a criteria for determining the strength of the conference.  That would mean CUSA was extremely underrated since their champion made it to the championship game.  I do believe if I had chosen the field, I would have had a couple of teams in differently for e.g. maybe have UMASS, AZ State, Mississippi and/or UAB/Illinois State in for Kentucky, Arizona maybe Oregon but outside of that  not sure what other changes I would have made in selecting the teams and for that matter rating them.
