See that's the thing too, which noone has yet figured out how to counter about WI - our bigs can pull out and hit the 3.  How do you guard that?  Their bigs have to follow Butch outside, and then the inside is open for WI.  Other teams have bigs that play very well...even better than ours, down low...but who can't move out and do what we do.  And that takes our bigs to another level for what they create in opportunities for the rest of the team.  There is no great way to D a team whose bigs can move in and out and hurt you from anywhere.

Arcticman, that's a great point about our bigs slipping out to the perimeter. It'll open up lanes, and if, say, Krabbs drops an early three, that will be monster since the Davidson defender will have to then play him on the perimeter and Krabbs is quite adapt at finding the cutter for an easy assist.

It's been a yo-yo of a week, hasn't it? One second I'm all freaked out about the Davidson; the next, I'm confident. And you all encourage with these excellent points and analysis. Luckily, it's like 29 hours til tip. Hooray for Wisky!

Another Davidson guy here.  One thing that Davidson commits to is NOT letting big men beat them.  They force teams to out shoot them, banking on the fact that most teams CAN'T do that (atleast in the Southern conference).   This is why you see decent 3pt numbers put up against the Cats, but nothing really outstanding from big men.  As Holmes said, we double big men in the post, which leads to some open looks if you can pass out of the post.

Another thing that no one wants to admit to, is that Davidson plays VERY pesky defense.  No one will say that Davidson forced 20+ turnovers against Georgetown... I guess because it's Davidson and we're moderately athletic at best.   Instead, people say Georgetown didn't take care of the ball.

If Wisconsin can knock down the 3pter, I expect you to win by around 10.   I'm especially concerned about your big man who can step behind the line.   One thing you shouldn't take for granted, however, is that typically Curry does not let games become blowouts.  He has a way of keeping games close and hitting crazy shots to keep Davidson in games.  I expect Flowers and co. to keep Curry in "check" (ie: no 40 pt master pieces), and thus expect a 65-55 type of game. However I will say this, Curry is amazing, and with him, any thing is possible (and I actually mean that).  I don't know much about the Wisconsin backcourt, but I'd be interested to hear your perspective after the game about Davidson's.

Good luck- I'll be at the game chearing on the Cats.

McCrabster, That's a good point about Davidson's commitment to opponent bigs. Someone earlier in the week chalked up the point totals in D-son's games against teams with star bigs, and we can look at Hibbert's miserable night last week for even more evidence. Though, you also nailed what might make a huge difference in the game one way or the other: Wisky's bigs dropping shots. When all things are clicking the versatility of Wisconsin's swing O is pretty brutal on opposing D.

I wonder if G-Town's twenty turn-overs weren't partially due to a bit of carelessness on G-Town's part; a carelessness that Davidson was able to exploit. That said, Davidson still took care of the ball, made G-Town pay for not doing the same.

Don't root too loudly for Davidson, Crabster. Ford Field likes it quiet and serene for games there. And pay no attention to guys in blue with bags on their heads. They're just mad at some guy named McMillan. Oh. My bad. Wrong sporting event Ford Field tonight. Nevermind.

My fellow Wildcat is right that Davidson does not get blown out of games.  Biggest loss this year was by 12, and all of the others could have gone either way with a few minutes left in the game.

The only time the Cats have been blown out during the Curry era was playing in Cameron against Duke last year.  Curry was held to 5 points that game, the only time he hasn't reached double-digits in his college career.

Davidson guys - the thing I've been harping on the past few days as the KEY TO VICTORY for Wisconsin is controlling the ball. Keep turnovers to a minimum. Believe me, we understand how pesky you guys are.
