Get your facts straight Parrish. You conveniently left KU off the list of teams that have made 3 Sweet 16s in the past 6 years just so you could write a puff peace on Wisconsin. Not only has KU made 4 Sweet 16s in the past 6 years, but 4 Elite 8s and 2 Final 4s. (2 horrible 1st round losses making up the other 2 years). Don't let the facts get in the way of your opinions

Wisconsin has one maybe two NBA prospects. One, Michael Flowers because he plays really good defense and he can score if he needs to. He is a pretty good 3 point shooter too, which NBA scouts look for. I think Butch has a chance if he has some very good try-outs with a team. Always like a big man that can hit 3'.

I think that UW has more talent than most casual fans give them credit for. Four future NBA players might be optimistic, though.
I don't think that future NBA players is really what Ryan is looking for. He wants players that will stay for four or five years and work their butts off the whole time, trying to get better. Would you expect Eric Gordon, or OJ Mayo, to do that? They wouldn't and they shouldn't, either, they belong in the NBA once their freshman season ends. The Badgers will never go after the One-and-done type Phenom. They'll take humble, hardworking guys who are NOT stiffs (UW gets about two top 100 recruits a year) but aren't mc'D's either. It all works because two years after Gordon and Mayo are drafted, Hughes, Leuer (and no, he's not horrible, he's still growing, probably), Bohannon (#42, I think, at scout.com) and Nankivil will still be working their @sses off in Madison, cheating sleep, living for basketball, and getting better every day. Just like Butch, Flowers, Stiemsma, Landry and Krabbenhoft have already done.
Will it pay off for them with an NBA career? Heck I dunno. It's too early to judge for Ja-bo, Hughes, Leuer, Nankivil. Flowers might get a chance because of his defense, Butch because he's a 7-footer with an outside shot. Landry, I think he'll have a terrific season next year, but will it be enough? Krabbenhoft might bounce around for a few years in europe then end up as a role player, but he needs to show the offensive skills I think he has. Tanner Bronson might make it as a coach: remember his name. Who knows? But one thing I'm sure of is that if any of them gets a shot at the NBA, they'll grab it with both hands and they won't let go.
I'd rather have a team of players like that than what they get at Ohio state, Kansas State or USC. I like guys like that. And most of the Phenoms Are DONE but the Badgers are still playing. Go Bucky.
ps. let's remember to have fun with this. This is great! right?

As a Big Ten fan, I love Wisconsin! Bo Ryan doesn't wear Armani his players don't hold major news conferences to declare their choice of college, they're not the biggest draw for ESPN's prime time, they don't score 100 points per game. They just win! As a huge Indiana fan, I'd sacrifice a few of those aforementioned perks of being a "bigtime" program for a few of those Wisconsin Ws. Go Badgers, represent!!

For the people busting on Leuer, he's a FRESHMAN. Bo likes to play upperclassmen. I think you'll be eating your words in a couple of years.
Hey '79, thanks for posting that link. Leuer is not the only one. Anyone that has seen Nankavil play at the HS level knows there are some special days ahead for the Badgers. This is in no way the only year our Badgers will be in the national mix.
As for another poster that said he thought a Tim Duncan would want to play for Bo. I think Duncan is a special kid - a little bit more of a deep thinker in the David Robinson mold (which is why he was such a perfect fit for the Spurs). In fairness to most kids coming out of HS, they don't have the maturity to make decisions beyond the promise of future big contracts, media coverage, and other perks that just don't come at Wisconsin. I'm not sure we want those things at Wisconsin anyway. I think this is why Bo says some kids opt out of Madison, and that's ok with Bo, because he'd rather have his kind of player who buys-in to his system.

As a badger fan thanks portugy. I would love the big ten on a so called "down year" to have 2 teams in the elite 8. That would really pi$$ dicky v, seth davis, clark kellog and the rest of the idiots from cbs and espn off ( By the way the only announcer that gives the badgers and the big ten credit is musberger and i love when he did the big ten tourney that the terrible big ten has more teams in the elite 8 than the acc or big east. Go Badgers and Sparty, show these boys what big ten hoops is all about!

The key to winning in college is having a good COLLEGE team (such as WV under Beilein or Ryan's teams or the last two FL champs). None of those players was a great pro, but they played as a TEAM. Get that straight. Sure, it's nice to be UNC, bt I'll take a team any day.

Let's not forget J-Bo!! Yes, I'm well aware that he's not the overall talent, and there may be a size/strength question...but I think there could be a role somewhere for a shooter. Some team that is otherwise well stocked may really like to have him in there situationally - when a 3 is needed, or when it comes down to foul shooting. He's not the guy the opponent wants at the line. Is he ever going to be a starter? Probably not. We know that. But does he have a chance? Heck yeah.

I am not saying there are McDonal'ds all american and NBA lottery picks from top to bottom on this team but the roster is more talented than some analysts and posters give credit to.
As a neutral observer who doesn't look at everything written as either picking apart Wisconsin, dissing Wisconsin, or not having to do with Wisconsin (no respect from the media tact) I think the article actually highly praised Wisconsin's team talent. It praised it AS a TEAM talent - no superstars - just good solid athletes who band together as a cohesive unit and force you to take them all out of the game. I think the author was showing major kudos for the Badgers and their blue collar way of winning. And as for the other posters on this site .. WHO CARES WHAT THEY THINK ... most of the posts I read have no real value to add to any topic and/or discussion.
