I'm not trying to make the Yankees organization out to be saints, but this is in no way a publicity stunt. I know that the Yankees are hated, and in many cases I can understand why they are hated. However, let's not create reasons to hate them for this. You would love it if it was your team doing this instead of the Yankees, no matter who your team is.
My comments are in responce to what I was hearing on a Boston sports talk show this morning from the hosts and callers.

Boston sports talk thinks this is a publicity stunt....WHAT?!?! People should be able to put aside their sports allegiances for a second and applaud the Yankee organization for trying to do some good....if you can't do that, you have bigger issues than a sports rivalry....

Why would the Yanks do it for publicity? PUBLICITY?!?! If you guys don't know yet, the Yankees get enough. As soon as Hank makes one remark, a magazine is out the next day. People who think this was for publicity are dumb****

Hate doesn't need (or want) "reasons" or "reasonability" or "rationality".
Hate just needs a pie hole together with a room temperature IQ.

I try to hate the Yankees as often as I can but a move like this is just classy and should be appaluded. I don't think they did it for publicity, they play in NY - how much more publicity could they want? But even if they did, I wish many more teams would so that same.

As a Bosox fan, I was brought up to dislike the Yankees, and have till this day. One shiny day, I am accutally proud of the Yankees. Reaching out past the borders of thier city to help those affected by tragic event should be mirrored by all teams, all sports, and frankly all people. I am sure once the regular season starts and the rivally renews Ill be back on my hate wagon. But for now, kudos to the Yankee players, team, and organization.

As a Mets fan and self-declared Yankees hater, I also think it's a class act. I know they we're already there to play them in an exihibition, but they didn't need to visit the memorial. I wasn't even going to read the article at first, but then I thought that if it was the Mets who visited, I would've felt a great sense of pride about it. I would expect the same from any MLB club if they played VaTech, but lets not take anything from the Yanks. Oce again... a very high class act.
