I wouldn't be suprised to see Louisville take out Tennessee and UNC to make it to the Final Four. They are quick, can hit the outside shot, play in a tough confrence, and have two easy games to build momentum at the start. I don't know, I think UL and Tenn would be a great game and UL vs. UNC would be great for the Final Four. But as lucky as UNC gets, especially playing virtually at home it will be tough for anyone in the East bracket to displace them.

This bracket's going to be a lot of fun.  Every game but Louisville, UT, and UNC's 1st rounders should be fun, some good upset potential too.  Arkansas-Indiana's going to be a great game, methinks.  'Course, I'm an Arkansas fan, so I could be biased.

All regions have quality teams...the chat about which region is toughest doesnt really matter. You only have to beat 4 teams to reach final four and its unlikely you'll have to beat more than 2 or 3 good teams.

with this said, the east region is of course UNC's to lose. Relatively home court and not dealing with travel issues does play a part. San Diego's win in conference tourney comes to mind among others...

If I were to play the spread, I think Indiana is done, they struggled down the stretch and lost to a crappy Minnesota team in Indianapolis of all places. Arkansas should beat IU.

Notre Dame could give UNC a battle since they can score...a UNC ND match-up over total will be well over 150...anything under 161 and its an over.

Seed upsets  in East

South Alabama (playing in Birmingham) ov Butler , a horizon team

St Joes over OK

Ark a 9th seed over IU not much of upset but ARK gets by

I think it's the oppsite when we are talking how deep one's bench is in UT and Louisville.  There is no way that Louisville is too deep for Tennessee.  I'm not a Tennessee fan and let's see who I can pull off the top of my head:  Chris Lofton, J P Prince, JaJuan Smith, Tyler Smith, Howell, Wayne Chism, Ramar Smith....should I stop? Arkansas is a good basketball team and Tennessee lost 4 total games with a tough out of conference schedule.  I completely disagree with Dick Vitale's prediction of a UNC/Louisville match up.  Tennessee was close to getting a #1 seed if Kansas would have lost the Big 12 tournament championship game.  I don't see how the tournament committee puts the best 1 seed in UNC and best 2 seed in Tennessee in the same bracket.  The only reason I can think of is that Tennessee will have a chance to play closer to home in the South region.  Vanderbilt, a 4 seed, practically got a better draw as a 4 seed by ending up the the Midwest with Kansas as the 1 seed.  Tennessee pushes the ball extremely well.  I don't think Louisville has seen this type of Tennessee before.  Tennessee beat the number one team at the time, Memphis, who is still a 1 seed in the tournament on Memphis' home floor.

I think alot of you are forgetting about Washington State. The Pac-10 is a very hard conference. They have quite a few teams in this year. They have good shooting & a good Defense. so don't count them out.

Some people arealready talking about Tenn playing Louisville and UNC down the line.  Don't forget that Butler may have something to say about that.  They did beat Tenn last year in the preseason NIT.  I just hate it for Tenn sake to be stuck in the same region as UNC and then possibly playing Butler (who should be higher than a 7 seed...dont quite understand that) in the second round and then possibly Louisville.  Easily the most difficult region.

Butler got robbed.  They deserved a four or five seed.

Butler got robbed.  They deserved a four or five seed. Butler did get robbed....Don't worry though, they'll make up for it with a win over Tennessee.

That's IU, not UI. It's Indiana University. Other than that, your explanation of the 'pod system' or whatever they're calling it now is really good and clear. I like the way they're doing that now. More teams can play close to home that way.

I wonder why nobody is talking about George Mason's chances up against Notre Dame. Everyone seems to think that Notre Dame is all of a sudden really good and that their Big East tourney loss to Pitt didn't give Mason a good blueprint on how to defeat the Irish, tough defense to shut down ND's big man! Mason has a stringy defense and if by halftime Notre Dame isn't up by 10 points, then I would believe that Coach Larranaga would motivate his youngsters to upset Notre Dame!

Go Mason!

I think SSGArmy forgot that marquette beat notre dame in the big east tournament not pitt. Also i dont think many people realize how balance this notre dame team is, yes they have a great low-post player in harangody, but if the 3point shooters of McClarney and ayers are on it will be tough for george mason to even keep it close. Too many people are haning on to the hopes of 2 years ago and are gonna be disappointed.

Louisville is too deep for UT. We are do long and big for UT. and we deeper. and that deepness helps our press which would ultimately shutdown UT's dribblers.

Louisville 8 players avg 10 minutes or more per game 1 @ 8.7 and 1 @ 8.3 mpg

Tennessee 11 players avg 10 minutes or more a game with one at 9.5 mpg

there goes that arguement NEXT

Don't forget that Butler may have something to say about that.  They did beat Tenn last year in the preseason NIT.I also worry about this but it was LAST year.  no bearing on this year and our team is different from that one.  First off we have two transfers that have come in a played exceptionally well and the only person that we lost (Bradshaw) was replaced by Tyler Smith (1st team all-sec this year Big 10 Freshman of year last year)

If Tennessee can get by Butler and Louisville which I think they can, they will be more battle tested than Carolina and their games. The tarheels have not seen a team like UT since the Clemson (defense) and Duke (passing and 3 pointers).UT has someting to prove and this is a deep team,or as deep as N.C. If Lofton and J Smith get hot outside;  Chism and Crews have their inside game going this will spell trouble for the Tarheels.

What a bracket, there are 5-6 teams that were ranked in the top 10 at some point. I know Indiana hasn't played well since Sampson was sent packing, but if they wake up now NC is in for quite a game. Sorry Ark. you should not be playing IU they should have been no more than a 6 seed.  How is Oklahoma a 6 seed here?
