With the at-large bid still not a guarantee, I would have to say that tonight's game might arguably be the biggest game in Davidson basketball history in the last 20 years or so, with regard to their need to win it.

Obviously, I'm sure I'll get some argument that the first round games in the NCAA tournament were bigger in the sense that they're at the national level, but this is a game we are supposed to win and need to win in order to continue this magical ride.

I really feel like this team could actually do some damage in the NCAA tournament this year and to do so would really improve the program for years to come.  With that all in mind, I hope they stick it to Elon and I can post this again in two weeks when they're playing in their next biggest game.  Good luck Cats.

Want some evidence that the next game(s) are more important than the Socon final? Read Gary Parrish' s comments: http://www.sportsline.com/mcc/blogs/view/6271764

A slightly more  objective observer than I would probably agree with him, expecially if we do the "ole one and out." As a Cats fan, I couldn't be happier with what we have already done, and even a first-round loss wouldn't change that, but to get some national love we've got a lot to prove.

Let's hope that Parrish's words get the team even more fired up.

Personally, I hope Parrish is right...in one aspect.  I hope that Davidson isn't going to get the respect associated with the 23rd ranking when it comes to the tournament seeding.  I've seen a couple mock brackets that have Davidson in the 8-9 game, and frankly, that may allow the Cats to win one game, but it also means they're match up with the #1 seed in game two.

I think the Cats can do more damage with an 11 or 12 seed, and I would be happy to take that silver lining that would come with a low seed.

Parrish is an a#* by the way.  I hope the Cats make him eat his words (though I've sort of been saying the same thing for a couple weeks now...but I'm an alum, it's different)
