There is no need to debate the skills or talent level of Hansbrough as it is blatantly clear that he is neither the most talented or gifted player in college basketball.  I think everyone in American can agree on that.  However, being the best player does not mean you're an ambassador for the game and vice versa.  Most players do not want that kind of responsbility, black or white.

That being said, Hansbrough is considered the face of college BB b/c he's actually stuck around past his Freshman year.  He plays for a storied program and coach, puts up fantastic numbers, and enjoys being in college.  It's a combination factors, none of which have to do with him being white.  If Hansbrough was black he'd still be the face of college basketball.  Beasely, on the other hand, plays for Kansas State and will leave after this year.  He is a mercenary and victim of the NBA's eligibility rule.  How can he represent the game when everyone knows he plans on leaving the first chance he gets.

Also, as other posters have mentioned, the face of college BB will still be, nine times out of ten, black.  If my memory serves me correct, 2007 was the year of Oden vs. Durant both of whom were excellent representaves of college BB.  If either remained, they would hands down be the face.

Lastly, we all know Freeman is a race card playing, pathetic excuse for a journalist.  For some reason he feels obligated to write racist columns any chance he gets and he'll continue to use race as a crutch until CBS says something.  Freeman probably hates hispanics, asians, women, homosexuals, and disabled people too.  His types always hate across the board.

Sorry. I know he didn't reference Beasely but he's the only player that could arguably be the best player or face of college basketball.
