There's not many Stanford fans on the board...

And I think we got a really good team this year....

Hopefully the Lopez twins will come back next year. Then we'll have a team that will contend for the Pac10 title and a national title.  We need to really recruit. This year we had basically no freshmans but one.

So... how far will Stanford go in March?  Of course I hope they won't collaspe and get a decent seed.

Forget about Brook Lopez coming back next year.  He's currently projected as the 5 pick in the draft.  Losing Fred Washington and Taj Finger will also hurt, but let's finish this year first.

This year's team will give any team trouble.  They play helacious D and rebound with the best.  Lopez has dominated offensively in recent games, and until teams figure out how to contain him, he will take the Cardinal a long way.

I think Stanford can sneak into the sweet 16, but that's it.  They have average point guard play, and that usually means a quick exit in the tourney.  Even Goods isn't shooting three's consistently, and Shiller can't defend most guards so he's a defensive liability.  Hill all but disappeared offensively until Saturday's game.  They commit 15+ turnovers routinely, they can't make free throws (~60% as a team!), and they have only one consistent scorer in B Lopez.   Trent has really fallen short on recruiting - particularly at point guard.   Remember, if Montgomery hadn't left, Bobby Frasor (currently backup PG at UNC behind Ty Lawson!) would be our PG now.   We don't have a true PG in the incoming class either!  Also, Trent didn't even recruit the Lopez's  to Stanford,  they walked into his office and committed on their own.   He needs serious help recruiting for us to improve.  I think the potential is there for a title next year, but only if B Lopez stays and we get more help at point, and that is unlikely.

yep stanford's one weakness is PG.

Mitch Johnson had played decent but he doesn't drive to the hoop more often.

Stanford plays a slow defensive game and are in to the last minute.

My prediction is the 2nd week and anything short of that will be a huge dissapointment.

As a stanford fan, i really hope Brook stays, but seems unlikely, i don't see any chance of us losing Robin

Brook will most likely leave after this year. Being academically eneligible meant to me that he didn't like school or stanford is too hard for him.. lol

Only chance he will come back is if he comes to his sense and figures that dominating college basketball is better than sitting in the bench in the NBA.

But its all about the money.

I agree, Stanford's point guard play is a little suspect.
Also, if they have a game when Lopez's (either or both) get into foul trouble it could be lights out pretty quick.
Seems like there are teams about Stanford's quality every year in the tourney that get into their first game, have foul problems, can't adjust quick enough and are done after one game.
We'll see, they are looking pretty good at this point in the season.

Tough lost at ZonaSt. Harden is very good. Game tomorrow is going to be tough. We don't want to get swept.

tracyllopez,

Are you momma Lopez and are you referring to you-CLA? If so, i would have to disagree. at any rate, this Thursday should be very, very entertaining. go Cardinal!!! Otherwise your comment makes absolutely no sense.

As far as our chances go, we'll be an Elite 8 team, if we start off with two games at Stanford and get to play an overachieving team, like a 13th seed that's still in it, in the 3rd round. We might even be in line for a two seed at this point, depending on how we do in the Pac-10 tourney. I give us a strong chance to make it to the Elite 8, and who knows, if things bounce the right way and both Hill and Goods find their touch all the way through we could be in San Antonio and me wondering why I didn't buy those tickets when I had the chance.
