Jim Brown put up crazy numbers considering he played in less games (12 and 14 game seasons) But Barry really put up some insane numbers.

Barry only played 10 years and ran for 15,000 yards! That's an average of 1,500 yards a season. He also scored 110 td's so that's an average of 10 td's a year. Barry's teams were average and he never had a great QB to balance him out.

I hate when people bring up Emmit because he was on one of the greatest teams ever assembled and played 5 more years than Barry and only rushed for 1,000 yards more in his entire career NOW that's crazy! He did rush for more TD's but put Barry on the Cowboys and people wouldn't even argue! Emmit had HOFer's all around him!

Without any doubt that the best running back of all time is Jim Brown. Jim Brown only played 8 seasons with only 12 games in a season. He was the all time touchdown leader until LT broke that this year. He is even in the top 10 for rushing yards. If he hadn't chosen to go into acting after his 8th season, then he would be way up the list on the stats. Jim Brown is hands down the best running back of all time.

And not that I think OJ Simpson was a best back of all time but no matter what we may think of him personally, he deserves to be mention in the top 10.

In my opinion O J Simpson doesn't even deserve the time of day!!!

Absolute doubt...he was a great back, but he's not the all time rushing leader if Sanders doesn't get pissed off with the Lions.

For me I'd pick Payton. Obviously, because of the stats but the king maker is who he was...a great human.

My href="http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/players/playerpage/536550"> href="http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/players/playerpage/1102"> list:

1. Walter Payton / Jim Brown (tie)

2. Gayle Sayers - a Jim brown sized RB, with the moves of Barry Sanders.. he DOMINATED the league before he blew his knee out

3. Barry Sanders - he was the ONLY threat on the Lions, and STILL performed week after week.

after these 4, it is a toss up.. I do like Emmitt - but a lot of his success came from a well balanced team with a great offensive line. Same with Earl Dickerson (whom I have met)

It would have to be Jim Brown but if i had to pick players i have seen in my lifetime(i am 40) then i would probably Payton...i mean they only played one playoff game while he was in his prime so his career is pretty amazing.

You cant discount that Emmitt Forehead played behind what might be the best O line ever so he isnt even in my top 5...

i would say from what i have seen

1.Payton

2.Sanders

3.Tomlinson

4.Dickerson

5.Cambell
