Bennett is the man. Its hard to find anything about him to criticize at this point.

Being from Wisconsin, I have a lot of respect for the Bennet name. He comes from a great coaching family and I hope he does well.

I think he will be a great coach. However, I hope WSU only keeps him for the next 6-10 years, and when Bo Ryan retires, Wisconsin can steal him from you. Until then, enjoy.

LOL! I was going to say the same thing. WSU has gotten a good one and I think he'll be loyal to the program. The ONLY job I could see him taking is the Wisconsin job, but by the time Bo retires that might not happen because Tony will have established a tradition at WSU by then and it might be hard for him to leave. He'll also have his family established in that area, and he's a guy for whom that matters. I wouldn't mind seeing him making his Wisconsin return some day, though!
It'll be interesting to see how (or if) he changes the team style as the players he recruited with his father start to leave. The only real knock on Dick Bennett was that he didn't bring the best talent in because the players didn't get a chance to play up-tempo offense. I suspect Tony will change that at least somewhat, while at the same time sticking to the defensive principles that have made the Bennetts so successful.
In any event, it's great to see the Bennett name live on at WSU and I couldn't be happier for you guys. I'll probably always be a WSU fan from now on (except if they play the Badgers).

At $700,000 a year won't make Tony Bennett to be loyal for a long time. Wazzu needs to lock him with at least $1,000,000 before another Major programs steal him like Kelvin Sampson.

the only job I see Tony leaving for is the Wisconsin job, and i don't see Bo Ryan going anywhere soon, Tony is going to build up Washington State into a known name in college basketball. With the recruits coming in next year, look out!! The cougs will quickly reload after losing 3 great players(Low, Weaver, Cowgill)

It's funny and rewarding seeing Tony do well out there in WA; I went to high school with him at Green Bay Preble. He once made a 3/4 court shot at the end of a half during one of our basketball games (we were so far ahead it didn't matter as I recall, but he just kind of flipped it in). He played at UWGB under his father, and from Ft. Ben Harrison, IN I can remember seeing their team nearly defeat a much higher ranked MI State team, losing by 3 at the end. When I was on leave from the Navy (I was stationed in Italy) in 1993 I saw him replace Mugsy Bogues in a Charlotte Hornets playoff game and again he was draining 3's like nobodys business. Then he followed his dad into coaching, first at WI where they took the Badgers to a Final Four in 2000, and then out to WA State, where he is now the head coach. Success has followed him and his family everywhere in basketball, and while WA State fans have a lot to cherish these days, I can remember sitting down at Hardee's on University Ave. in Green Bay with Tony and some others and talking about 1) GIRLS and 2) Basketball. Congratulations on all your success Tony, and what a gift for Washington State! See you down the road; how does March sound?
