ok tell me how this fair. indiana gets in trouble for having too phone calls and gets rid of their whole team so no one who was involved is left yet seems like then ncaa is still gonna punish them

now tell me how usc is not being punished for both reggie bush and o.j mayo when both got "paid" to play? and it not happen once but twice once in football and another in basketball. last i heard they arent getting anything serious as a punishment or at least not as severe as indiana

so whats worse paying someone to play for you or making just extra phone calls?

Trouble is, Myles Brand, NCAA prez has never been prez at USC, but he was at IU and wants to see them burned at the stake (it seems). It is MUCH worse to pay kids to play than make extra calls.

The obvious answer to your question MattLee, is it is MUCH worse to pay someone to play for you. That is terrible!

I don't think you will get any arguements about how that is fair here.

No matter what IU gets or does not get, USC should be punished big time and it doesn't appear that it should.

"out of sight, out of mind." This adage makes me wonder if being so close to the NCAA headquarters can be a negative. Too far under the microscope.  But there is a rules committee. Not all these actions are passed down directly from Comrade Brand. It would have to be a conspiracy for Brand to consistently go hard on IU.

Maybe Tom Crean needs to pay some of our players to play. To take some of the heat off of the program.

The farther this goes, I think the moral of the story really becomes - DON"T COOPERATE WITH THE NCAA!!  If you don't tell them anything, or give them all of your records, apparently, they can't find out anything on their own.  USC obviously has much more serious issues than phone calls, and it appears nothing is even happening with them.

I will give the NCAA a little more time though, because I think it was common knowledge about Michigan and the "fab five" as soon as they showed up on campus and the NCAA finally caught up with them ten years later.  Indiana should have known better than to hire Sampson, but if we get too harsh of sanctions for this, then something with the NCAA has to change.  When other schools are blatantly cheating and don't get caught and we try to do the right thing over excessive phone calls, something is not right.
