I hear you. But that guy is part of the BCS equation. Here is another source from the BCS which I am sure will make LSU fans happy... They have Mizzou #1 (see why... it is interesting) and some other odd things.. but that is the BCS and the formula, right?
They have SEC #1 Conf, Pac 10 #2... Pac 10 has the tougher SOS. Rankings to the left and SOS to the right...
Kentucky
32 Ark 33
3 LSU 26
61 Vandy 21
Arkansas
3 LSU 26
78 Miss 6
41 SC 11
29 Miss St 23
Stanford
4 USC 29
35 Cal 10
56 AZ 8
I think Cal at its best can compete ... here are Cal and Tenn two best wins. Of course, Cal had to be more consistent. But the point is ability to compete.
Cal 11
11 Tenn 7
12 Ore 4
Tenn 7
5 UGA 30
32 Ark 33
Is that much better? I just don't get it. What is so tough about saying that Kentucky's wins were about the same as Stanford and Ark was just one win better. I think Stanford wins 3 games in the SEC same as Kentucky and is just one game behind Ark. How is that not being able to compete...
Sure the Rose Bowl will throw out this tradition, but the tradition has never been Big 10 #2 vs Pac 10 #1
This is a very good point. Many people fail to realize that 3 out of the last 4 Big Ten-Pac Ten Rose Bowl matchups featured the Pac Ten champion (USC each time) vs the Big Ten runner up. Not exactly a fair matchup, especially when you add the fact that it's played in Pasadena, CA.
USC beat Arkansas at Arkansas 50-14 and Arkansas had a better team.
USC beat Stanford that year 42-0.
-- Not that big of a difference to me.
rcooke:
You have to be one of the biggest homers I have seen on these boards. I know the SEC has a lot of delusional fans, but if you want to compare Arkansas to Stanford last year, it just shows your football ignorance.
Here is another source from the BCS which I am sure will make LSU fans happy..
You know what makes LSU fans happy? They have won TWO BCS National Championships.
Give me SOS, give me what some "expert" thinks, and give me polls. SInce the BCS era, the SEC will show they have more bowl wins, more BCS wins, a better bowl winning percentage, and more Championships than the PAC 10.
I disagree. Cal has not had a losing season since 01. The Hogs have had two such seasons. Not every year, but overall Cal has been better this decade.
I believe thats the type of prgram they would be in the SEC...middle of the pack competing for a division title periodically. That is just my comparison to how I believe they would perform in the SEC. It was to make a point that they would not year in and year out compete with Georgia, Florida, UT, LSU and Auburn.
And again, I have nothiong against Cal what so ever...the name of the thread was could Cal compete with SEC's best and I think that their is an overwhelming majority that says they could not compete with the SEC best year in and year out.
