According to the Rocky Mountain News, the Colorado Rockies are close to giving up on the rest of the season and making Matt Holliday available on the trade market.

Several clubs who've been scouting the Rockies say that the team will make the decision to deal players after the All-Star break, but with the team not likely to make up enough ground by then, it is the assumption that the Rockies will be sellers at the deadline. Players like Matt Holliday, Brian Fuentes and Willy Taveras are expected to be dangled as trade bait.

Holliday has garnered interest from the A's, Cardinals, Rays, Angels, Dodgers and Royals.

This is from ESPN rumors with insider

this is from mlbtraderumors

Ringolsby rattles off teams interested in Matt Holliday: Cardinals, Rays, Angels, Dodgers, and Royals. Definitely some new names in there. Holliday is hitting .332/.415/.538 in 299 plate appearances (.309/.401/.472 on the road). Ringolsby says the A's will "kick the tires" on Holliday but are more likely to pursue Willy Taveras.

He sure would look good in an Angels uni, but I wonder who we give up for him. I'd hate to see Figgy go, but we really have to do something. The Adam Dunn rumor is always out there, and I dont know if thats the way we should go. Sure, 40+ dongs and around 100 Ribbs, but dude K's ALOT and will bat .250 if he's lucky.

If its out of Holliday or Dunn I would hope we got with Holliday. I am not sure what we would give up but I am sure they would want

Figgy and if we give up him Vitty might actually have something with Holliday and Atkins coming to LA....but idk we will see.

I love the Holliday rumors that are out there.

He is a great player who can produce in a big way.

Who would we give up??? Hmm, maybe GMJ (10 million a year-would be a discount to the Rockies in todays market), maybe figgins (would hate to see him go), maybe Rivera along with some others, but whatever the case is...... I'd rather see Holliday in an Angels uniform then any other player I have heard in rumors.

Go Angels!!!

I like the Holiday rumors as well, especially since he isn't a free-agent after this year.  It would be nice if we could unload Gary Matthews Jr., but we'd probably need to give them Nick Adenhart and Brandon Wood as well, or something juicy like that.  Hell, that might not be enough.  But I'd consider hearing what they are asking.  Our major league pitching is strong, Escobar is getting closer to being a factor, and we have other minor league pitchers that will be ready shortly.

In my opinion, as much as we like our prospects, Nick Adenhart is expendable.  Brandon Wood may never be what we hope he'll be and his trade value probably isn't going to get better anytime soon.
