My #1 and #2 picks for this year will remain the same as last year's..................although my #1 didn't pan out.
#1 Steven Jackson
#2 LaDainian Tomlinson
I think the world of Steven Jackson as a player, and he will receive just as many touches as any other RB, including receptions.................if healthy. I don't care what the offensive line did last year.
I remember getting slammed for posting this last year, especially being a die-hard Chargers fan. It seemed as if every post's rebuttle to me was revisiting LaDainian's record breaking season in 06/07, and I explained that there was no way he would post a season like that back-to-back, and even history was suggesting this also (i.e. Jamal Lewis, Shaun Alexander, Priest Holmes).
Actually, I don't think you can go wrong with LaDainian, Steven Jackson, or Brian Westbrook at #1. But I just feel Steven Jackson will score more fantasy points than all other running backs.
And the reason I select a RB #1, in lieu of a QB, is because usually the production dropoff is greater among the elite to 2nd tier RB's than the elite to 2nd tier QB's. Of course Brady and Manning have been exceptions to this rule in 1 season each, but I don't see either having a season this year as Brady's last year.
