1st round pick= Guaranteed money and Guaranteed roster spot.  The first contract you sign in the NBA is not the most important one, it is the second contract where the money is made.

Last year Al Thornton was selected 14th (where Dont was projected) and makes 1.7 million in his first year with a 1.9 million dollar team option this year and a 2.9 million dollar team option the following year.

Alondo Tucker was the 29th pick of last years draft. 1st year was a little over 1 million. 2nd year 1.2 and 3rd year 1.9 mil.

Donte is basically losing out on minimal money based on his potential. Dont is going to be able to groom and improve his game against the best instead of against college kids. Not a bad move by Dont whatsoever.

OrangeViper and MikeSyr love each other.

Lottery picks get more money up front. He is guaranteed a roster spot behind a certain Big East player that used to play for Connecticut. He's not playing anytime soon. He looks stupid now. He was projected to be a lottery pick. Even though he could have played early in his career and could have made more money upfront if he were to wait until next year.

I have no idea who that is. Who is OrangeViper ? Why do you keep bring that name up ?

Greene and Warrick will get to play together. But will be fighting for the same spot.

Brook Lopez was also drafted there so it gives them more compitition even though he's a center.

Greene will play the SF and Warrick will play the PF. It's too bad that Greene won't see playing time. Moron. Goat, who's he going to be playing against ? The bench ?

For the sake of both Donte' and the SU basketball program, I was hoping he would go higher. #28 SUCKS. He is going to have a hell of a hard time getting off of the bench in Memphis. Unless he was academically ineligible, he made a HUGE mistake. I knew he wouldn't go in the top 20, but his agent told him otherwise (which is what they get payed to do). As a Portland fan, I am really happy with this draft, as a Syracuse fan, I am very sad. Outside of possible academic reasons, it turns out that Greene had no reason to leave outside of ego and greed.
