It appears our buddy Myles Brand is hard at work again.  IU is now charged with another major allegation, "failure to monitor,"  Apparently, IU has been engaged in improper business practices, whatever that means.  I don't have a huge problem saying that some of the blame belongs with the athletic department, but the NCAA just now alleging that something is worse now is ridiculous.  I mean honestly, how much time do they need to investigate?  From where I stand this just makes this look more and more like a witch-hunt from our former, and would have been let go if he had not left to take the NCAA job, president.

I am starting to get a bad feeling about all of this.  If Greenspan is now gone, and Sampson is gone, and all of Sampson's assistant coaches are gone, AND all the players he ever recruited are gone, what more do they want from us?

I think Myles is surprised we were recovering so quickly and is getting ready to try to bring us down for the long haul.  I don't think the NCAA with Brand at the head, is capable of making an unbiased judgment on Indiana.  If those goes too badly, I am all for suing the NCAA, and Brand personally.  I hope I am just overreacting, but if this keeps going the way it is, it could get ugly.

If anyone have heard anymore on this, I would like to know.

I agree that the thought of a new allegation is ridiculous.  The letter from the NCAA to IU is on the Indy Star website.  Isn't this new allegation pretty much addressed or parallel with the first how many allegations?  Sampson has blamed IU for not keeping better tabs on him and the NCAA is buying this crap?   I do have to say this - the NCAA can be fought.  I know it's a long and hard road, but enough already.  Good point that everything and everyone affiliated with Sampson was sent packing.  Do they want IU to change the name of the school and change the locations now too?

I think you're onto something dad.... I think Myles Brand will not be happy until the school in bloomington is called Myles Brand University.   I'm sure he's already designed a new MB logo.. and he's picked out some new candy striped pants featuring his two favorite colors....  Right now it's tons of NCAA allegations... I'm just hoping a month from now we're not relegated to being banned from having sports teams.

I agree with you 100% Kruse. The NCAA is seeing how we are trying to rebuild, and get Hoosier basketball to what is should be, and they are not happy about that. They rather see us suffer, and pay for our actions. It's a good point you also brought up. Kelvin Sampson left, Rick Greenspan is resigning, all of Sampson's recruits are gone, I don't understand what more they want from us.

We have suffered a lot of these past couple years, and I just don't understand why Myles Brand feels like he needs to bring us down even more then we already are. They need to quick nitpicking and just give us a ruling on what they already have done, not try and find new allegations to charge us with.

It's complete outrageous.

OK you guys, I am not an out and out fan of the hoosiers however I am a HUGE Big 10 fan. so please be patient woth me while I spell it all out. IF there is any more punishment doled out to IU over this, then it should be the end of any and all cooperation with the NCAA on anything. Indiana poured their heart out on the table to the NCAA and have done everything the NCAA has asked of them. Apparently if you arn't from southern California they are going to crucify you no matter the cost. Maybe the Big 10 should take a page out of the USC play book and tell the NCAA to go pound sand and do their own darn investigation. USC has proved over and over again (Reggie Bush, O.J. Mayo) that the NCAA cant investigate squat, so if Indiana just circled the wagons and said "We found nothing" would they be in the position they are in now? I think not. My team, Michigan, had the same thing happen to them, Albiet that their infractions were incredibally more serious than Indiana's are, however they did the same thing and got rid of everyone connected with the infractions and STILL had the book thrown at them also... Hey maybe the NCAA has something out for the Big 10 period. HMMM conspiracy theory in NCAA basket ball to go with all of the NBA ones???

what i believe it is, is the ncaa saying "it doesnt matter what you do, you are still gonna pay the price and getting rid of players and coaches wont change a thing". they have a superiority complex where they think they can say and do as they please and every team in the ncaa is just supposed to follow it. i wouldnt be shocked if some of these allegations are brand new rules instated after all this started. i dont get the monitoring thing.

do they monitor duke who for some reason can get whatever player they want regardless their season? or north carolina who can lose and entire all-star team and fill it back up with 5 top 20 talents? come on no matter how good of school you are, not every top 20 player is wanting to play for those teams expecially when not all will have a chance to be in the spotlight. they have to be lured to these school. im sure if they had investigations on the acc, there would be more then the big ten ever had. they seem to turn a blind eye to some school and over punish others. besides even if duke were caught theyd prolly only get a slap on the wrist.
