Now that Dancing is over, I think rather than hanging out in Hollywood he should be with the rest of his team.  He is the only player on the team that is not there now.  You've got two rookie DE's in this year. It would be invaluable to have a guy like Jason Taylor there to mentor them.

Some talk about Parcells lack of respect for Taylor it certainly has to go both ways. Taylor's comments about the new defense and coaches not "reinventing the wheel" seems a little, I don't know, disinterested or maybe a lack of excitement.

To me the biggest issue is what Vonnie Holiday said "they want to know if and when he's coming back"  That leads me to believe there's been a lack of communication between Taylor and the team, Vonnie's one of his good friends.

I'm not faulting Taylor at all for what he did during the summer, I think it's great he continues to expand his horizons beyond football.  But, it's football time now and I think he should get to camp, because even if he's in perfect playing condition, his (1-15) team would benefit from him being there.

You THINK there's a lack of communication??? That's the point of the story! The guy knows the Dolphins wont' win in the next few years. He has given everything to that organization, on and off the field. Just let him go for a reasonable price and MOVE ON. He deserves it.

I agree, he should be there.

For all the heat Parcells is getting on this issue, it's Jason Taylor who has bailed on this team.

He has no interest learning a new defense, he'd rather look into outside endeavors than football, and he has no plan to attend off-season work-outs or training camps. All of this is fine and he's certainly free to take an interest in his future after football- but he is under contract. Why should Parcell's should reward him while making an opposing NFL team better?

If I were Parcells I'd let Jason Taylor decide if he wants to suit up for the Dolphins or not at all. Let him try to get on another team next year... he'll be pushing 35 and he'll have been out of football for a year.

What is a fair price  for Jason Taylor?  Do you think a 4th round pick is fair because that's all that's being offered.

He signed a 6 year $45 million deal in 2004..  So now that the Dolphins are rebuilding he should just be able to walk away from the team and his contract?

No other team in the NFL will pay him that kind of money.  He has a contract and an obligation to play.  If he wants to walk because the Dolphins are a lousy team, then he should allow them to renegotiate his contract so they can trade him for something more then a 3rd or 4th round pick.

If I'm the Dolphins why would I want to let the 2006 Defensive player of the year go for a lousy 4th round pick.

What is wrong with a compromise here.  Taylor renegotiates to take less money and he gets to leave Dolphins end up with at least a second round pick.  Wouldn't that be fair for both sides?

Here's an idea.

Have Jason give the Dolphins a list of, say, 3-5 teams he would like to play for.  Let him negotiate a new contact with the team that will give the Dolphins the best deal, a player trade, highest draft pick, a combination player-draft pick, etc. and when all sides agree, make the trade.

I disagree.  It's not football time right now.  Miami is offering voluntary practices and Taylor has prior commitments so he can't make it.  He hasn't missed any football yet except for a volunteer get-together.  Do you really think Taylor is way behind now because he didn't go to camp.  The guy's been working out like crazy.  Give him a break.

Taylor doesn't know where he's at because Parcells is a bitter old man.  Instead of embracing Dancing with the Stars as an awesome way to market the Dolphins to a bunch of people who don't know football very well Parcells was on a power trip and missed the whole thing.  At least now he won't get full value if they have to trade Taylor.  Nice move.  Taylor's a legend and deserves basic respect.  He's honored his contract 100% and was the NFL's Man of the Year last year because of how active he is outside of football.  It's ironic that Parcells can criticize a guy for his actions when the league gave him a major award for his extra-curricular work last year.  He deserves better than this.
