After Ryan Church's slide into Yunel Escobar, I was mostly sad the guy got injured.  Granted his slide was no where near the base, and it was his own fault, but it still sucked he got hurt.  Now Scott Schoenweiss (spelling?) threw at Chipper Jones, and he had to leave the game.  While the pitch can probably be debated whether it was intentional or not...I personally believe it was on purpose.  I honestly think that was messed up to do in the situation.  Going after a player is messed up!  Nothing sportsman like about it.  Don't be so pissed your team is cold, and this guy is hot.  There have been Braves fans talking about taking out David Wright.  I think that is still messed up...whether the Mets started it, or not.

I do not want this becoming a Red Sox and Yankees type of hatred between the teams, but I guarantee if the Mets keep this stuff up..it'll happen.

And on a side note: I personally do believe Ryan Church deserves a suspension for the slide.  He was not trying to take Excobar out supposedly...but the slide was really late...really high and not on line for the base.  Slides like that happen a lot, and someone got really injured.  Something has to be done.  I hope Ryan Church has a saf recovery, and gets back quick...then serve a suspension.  Just not injured.  Many of you will know I try to be understanding toward the mets..but come on...taking out our two hottest hitters in two straight days...

Here is a link to the video...they show you in slow motion how Ryan Church was not even near the bag.  it almost is a body check.

I could see where you're coming from if this was a common thing, but it's not like Braves hitters are getting pegged all the time, and simply saying that it's because the Mets are losing doesn't really seem valid. Although you can never be sure, I guess.

Btw if Ryan Church was trying to do anything it would have been to make it harder to throw the guy out at first, not hurt Yunel Escobar.

As for the slide at second...I honestly don't think Ryan Church was trying to hurt Yunel Escobar.  Do I think he was trying to knock him down?  I do.  That was his second time sliding high into second that game.  There are a ton of players in the MLB who do it...I'm sure there are Braves players who do it also...but the MLB really needs to step up about it.  Two guys got hurt here.  As for the ball to Chipper Jones....if it was to injure, it would've been higher.  That doesn't mean I'm not pissed about it...obviously I am.  But I don't think the intent was there either.  But if one more Braves player gets hurt....I would have to think something was up...then I would be calling for Johan Santana's head lol.

That was his second time sliding high into second that game.
If this indeed is the case, then it's the middle infielder's job to put one in his chops!  I don't want to see a guy get hurt, but if you are gonna continuously slide high and risk injuring  the opposition then you should expect to take a throw in the face.  I bet that would make him get down when sliding into second!

As far as Chipper getting hit on purpose.....I don't know.  But with all the frustration the  Mets players were showing, it wouldn't surprise me.

Escobar came farther off the bag than is customary and Church didn't expect him to be there, it was more of an unfortunate event than anything. He didn't really have a chance to get down. A suspension, you are joking right?

By the way, he was still in line to touch the bag with his hand, which makes it a legal play.

I agree, it was legal, I think Church just got caught kind of in between do I want to get out of the way or take a hard slide to break up the double play...sometimes you intend one thing and another takes place....the play looked ok to me, no suspensions, lets just move on....btw, great play by Escobar to touch the bag and get that much on the throw...kudos!  Notice I said 'touch' the bag, since most times they don't even come close..lol
