The Indy 500 winner is.......?????

The Indianapolis 500 is beginning to regain the prominence it once had as the "Greatest Spectacle In Racing."  So, who will win?  The Target boys are looking dominant.  You can never count out Penske.  With three girls racing, will one of them win?  Can Newman - Haas dominate the IRL as they did Champ Car?

Personally, I would love to see Marco or Graham win but will pull for Helio to take his third.  I've always liked the Target boys, especially when Juan Pablo Montoya was racing for Chip.  My seats are in turn 4 and will have to use my binoculars to view the pit action, so I'll have to be on my toes if I want to see Danica's crash.

Hawks - I agree the The Indianapolis 500 is starting to regain the prominence it once had. Tony George's efforts to kill the race may be behind us (lets hope so) but who knows.

I voted for Dan Wheldon but I concur with your Helio Castroneves assessment. Hope you have a great time at the race. Just curious why the ill will towards Danica. I'm not a big fan either but she is nice to look at...bluejay

I voted for Dan Wheldon too. It would be great to see two Brits win it back to back, a Scot then an Englishman just like Jim Clark & Graham Hill in '65 & '66.

I follow the Sprint, so I don't know too much, all i kno is that andretti is good and ptrick won her first race and the morale boost should prime her for another, so i chose her.

But honestly, it doesn't look like anyone has a clear cut winner, there is a 5 way tie for 1st right now

I'll be pulling for Helio but think the Target boys may be too strong.  It would be nice to see Marco Andretti or Graham Rahal win but I think their days drinking milk will be sometime in the future.

Now that reunification has taken place I can see Marco, Graham and Danica being the poster children for the IRL.  They guys are very young, have a great image and last names that are great for promotional purposes.  Danica will do her part to bring in new fans and inspire some that have lost interest.

Count me in as a Rahal fan for the future.  Newman Hass has demonstrated their ability to rise to the top of the open wheel pyramid and Graham has a great future with them.  I really liked his dad and his team owner, the late great Jim Turner with Red Roof Inns.

I am biased but I want Danica to win. I am biased because I want any female to win the race so they will shut up about it. OBTW, she is kinda hot.

I do think that Heilo will win or maybe even Whaldon. I did vote for Dixon because he won me an IRL title a few years ago in an IRL racing league. Yes, I am a dork.

I am pulling for the Rahal kid all the way.  Watching his interviews during the last few weeks and the way he runs his car has put me in the Rahal camp for good.

Do I think he will win this year, probably not, but there is a chance.  It will probably take a little while for him to catch up to the Penske, Target and Andretti teams. 

I hope Marco is leading with 2 laps to go and breaks so the Andretti curse stays intact.  It would be nice to see him cry just like grandpa and daddy always did during thier careers.

Glad to see another in the Rahal camp, USC FAN.  I think he has a great future and is displaying a positive image for the new IRL.  I was never an Andretti fan but there is something about Marco that I really like.

I agree it may take Grahm and Newman/Haas a while to catch up with the old IRL regulars, but they will certainly get there.  Besides, Graham has as many career wins as the great Danica Patrick.

I bought a Graham Rahal shirt at Road america last year and will be wearing it when I go to this year's Indy 500.  Can't wait.
