NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Rookie offensive lineman Brian Stamper has signed a deal with the New Orleans Saints, general manager Mickey Loomis said Monday.

Stamper, 6-5, 300, a rare five-year starter at Vanderbilt, set school records for games played (51) after being granted a medical redshirt despite seeing action in five games as a junior in 2006. He overcame a career-threatening bck injury to return to his role as starting right tackle and team captain in 2007, starting all 12 games for the Commodores.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

oomis said the team waived lineman Kevin Tuminello, who was signed earlier this month as an undrafted free agent. He took part in the team's rookie minicamp.

Anyone know anything about this kid? He sounds like he could be pretty good.

Brian Stamper, Vanderbilt
Height: 6-4. Weight: 300.
Projected 40 Time: 5.19.
Pro Day 40 Time: .
Benchx225: 38.
Projected Round: 6-7
You have to like this guy. Brian Stamper put up 38 reps of 225 pounds despite suffering a hamstring cramp when he was on his 20th lift. Instead of stopping, Stamper continued to bench with his legs straight up in the air. After he was finished, Stamper was disappointed, stating that his goal was around 45 reps.

this guy could have some potential but with the depth we have on the Oline it will be an uphill battle for him to make the team unless we trade Stinchcomb

I think the Saints should bring in frank morton from Tulane. Iknow we are alreay preety Deep at DT but I think he would susprise people and could posibly earn a roster spot or a spot on the pratice squad. I am susprised no one has signed him yet. He was projected to go in the 5th round.

Im surprised Frank Morton is still available also we signed Marcus Pittman a DT out of Troy,  Morton is a better player than him and reminds me of a young version of Hollis Thomas.
