I propose a trade to the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Cubs will recieve broadcaster Mark Grace & his slightly filthy mouth.

Diamondbacks will recieve Bob Brenley and Jason Marquis.

Solves a few problems. We don't have to listen to Brenley talk about how he did things in 02 while with the Diamondbacks, we get Gracie back to Chicago, and (although I don't dislike the guy) getting rid of Marquis opens up a spot in the rotation!

Go Cubs!

I'm not as down on Brenly.  He played a long time and as an ex-catcher and manager, he drops knowledge.  I love Gracie, but I don't want to run Brenly out town.

The thing that really bothers me is he's a know it all. Apparently he was quite rude to Lance Briggs yesterday either during or after the interview. Didn't watch it, just what I was told.

The guy can second guess with the best of them, with out coming out and saying it. He just annoys me. I guess I was spoiled growing up watching Harry, then Steve Stone.

I like the duo of Kasper and Brenly; they're much better than the FOX duo, I'll watch any Cub game that doesn't have Buck and McCarver behind the mic.

I really like Bob and Len. They're 2 good anouncers and are better than a few others around the league. Besides Mark Grace comes to visit every once in a while

Brenly rocks!!!

Love his sense of humor, his love of music.

Oh and when you are wearing a World Series ring from your time as manager, you get a free pass to second guess.

In his 3+ years as a manager, he won a World Series and then a Division Championship.

Pretty good if you ask me.  He must know what he is doing.

The game Gracie called for Fox was pretty bad last week.  I like Gracie but he's awful in the booth.  Brenly at least has a good sense of humor, and he's not painfully dull to listen to...especially his constant "first time in history that didn't work" phrase.  I'll keep Brenly and Casper..they're ok with me.

I'll agree he was a good manager in Arizona, but how come he's still in the booth? I'm not bashing the guy just wondering how Dusty Baker got the Reds job over Brenley?

I enjoy Bob Brenley! I don't think he's a know-it-all by any means...far from it. He's funny, knowledgeable, and (I think) very humble. To those who don't watch Cubs games every day and are turning on baseball for the first time (yes, I know it's hard to believe but it IS someone's first game every single day), his references to "when I was playing" and "when we won the World Series in Arizona..." only show his credibility. Then again, if you think you were "spoiled" by Harry Caray as a broadcaster...you may not have developed a very good palate in Cubs announcers! ;-D lol (Steve Stone, on the other hand, is truly one of the very, VERY best so I agree with you on that one.)

I did watch the 7th inning stretch yesterday and at no time was he rude to Lance Briggs (that I saw). There was talk about Brenley's first question to Briggs, however. Len sits in the first chair closest to the camera, the middle seat is open for the conductor, and BB sits in the far chair. (You could barely see BB yesterday; Lance does fill up some space!) Anyway, Briggs was facing the field but favoring his lean toward the camera/Len. Brenley asked a question and Lance didn't know where it came from (picture him looking all around) because BB was behind him. That might be what you heard about OK...for whatever reason Len felt it necessary to bring up when they came back on air in the top of the 8th.

Lost a tough one today, but I'll be at the game tomorrow to bring home the series win vs. the Pirates.

GO CUBS GO!!!

Let's see:  Cushy job in the Cubs booth v. managing a bad roster.   Considering he probably is not hurting financially from his stint managing the D'Backs, I am not going to question him staying in the booth.  With his managerial resume, he should pick and choose the best opportunity to give up the good life.
