Now that we have Ryan Braun locked up, who would you prefer we lock up long term next? If you choose other, explain your choice.

Personally, now that we have a bat locked up in our lineup for the next 8 years, I would like to see the Brewers focus on pitching. Yovani Gallardo is young, talented, and could be the new Ace of our team if Ben leaves next year. So Yov is my choice. The Ryan Braun deal is a great one for both sides. Braunie is financially secure for the rest of his life. And the Brewers are secure for the next 8 years with a big bat and a solid Left Fielder in the lineup. If we could sign Gallardo long term, I think this would be great for our team.

Assuming that Prince is out of the question, as I answered on the "Braun locked up" thread, it has to hands down be Corey Hart.  Gallardo has had both knees repaired in a 2-month time frame.  He's gotta show he can successfully recover from the latest surgery and that he can stay healthy a full season.  I'm all for signing him to a (very) long-term deal as I think he's going to be great and I honestly think he can win a Cy Young or two before he's done.  With that being said, I'm all for getting a deal done after a full, healthy 2009 season.

Corey Hart just offers so much to this team on so many levels and could probably be had for relatively cheap compared to Braun that I think it would be a mistake to let Corey get any further into his arbitration years.

Corey Hart is a good option, but I might actually think about locking up Ben Sheets for a couple of years.  Last season I was ready to cut ties with him because he is always injured, but if he can manage to stay off the DL this season and prove that he has some mental toughness, I wouldn't mind seeing hiim around for a few more years.  Only problem is, I think it might cost the Brewers a lot of money to keep him around.  i guess I am a little on the fence on this one...

I know the Brewers don't seem interested, but I also vote for Ben Sheets.  Gallardo's injury is showing how important it is to have a deep pitching staff.  From what I understand, the Brewers don't have much pitching talent in the minors.  Also, doesn't it seem reasonable that someone with Sheets' injury problems would be eager to sign an extension with the Brewers during the season?  If that's not possible and this season goes in the tank (which it might), the Brewers better shop him around near the trade deadline for some minor league pitching talent.  Think of what the Brewers gave up last year for set-up man Linebrink.  We should be able to get a lot for Sheets.

Gallardo.

He recovers remarkably quickly.  I doubt he's going to be 'injury prone' now.  Look how he did in his starts when he came back this season.

Corey C. Hart...that's an interesting one.  I do like him, and would like to see him get an extension, but honestly I don't think he'd hurt us badly in arbitration, so I don't really see the point.  Someone with Gallardo's potential will hurt us.

As for Ben Sheets, I'm not going to get into it all again on yet another thread as to why, but he won't wear a Brewers jersey next season.

The way these guys are playing, I wouldn't lock any of them up.

I think it has to be Hart then Gallardo because Hart is the only guy who seems to be able to hit for average plus he has great speed and I believe he needs to be higher in the lineup for those 2 reasons. The way Gallardo is going I just hope he isn't as injury pron as sheets.

Marlow I agree with the sheets being gone after the season & if the Crew are out of contention late in the year I hope they can trade him to get some more pitching. The main reason I think he will be gone is he is to injury prone & the Crew can't afford to pay him tons of money and not be able to count on him for the whole year. Teams like the Yanks or Boston c
