I was looking through the stats this morning and the biggest stat that I believe is translating into wins for us is the fact the we have 5 players with OB% higher than .401 (5 out of the top 15 players in the NL).  That is impressive.  This is so much different than previous teams we have had.  We are getting guys on base and driving them in.

For the O yes. Would think Z and Demp keeping their walks down is giving them success. It's the hitting instructor. He was brought in by Lou last year to get the OBA up. That is a part of it. Another factor is Dome. He is probably rubbing off on the other hitters.

The only guy that deserves the credit for the Cubs offensive explosion this year has to be Matt Sinatro. I believe he's the one who tosses batting pratice.

OBP = more baserunners

more baserunners = more scoring opportunities

more scoring opportunities = more runs

more runs = more wins

Its taken the Cubs a while to realize this formula.

I don't know that it has necessarily taken the a while to realize it I think it has to do with the coaching mentalities that have been in place as well as the personel in place to execute.  Lou, IMO, is one of the better & for the most part underrated mgrs in the game.  Add to that that this is one of the best & depest teams that I can remember taking field for the Cubs!
