Why can't we just play one series each year and flip flop the location annually?

I would have loved to have made the trip to Fenway or Yankee stadium to see the Cubs. We miss them because of the damn WhiteSox .

The series between the two has lost a little something anyway. 6 games a year is way too much in my opinion. Remember the cross town classic? Now that game was awesome...and didn't even count towards the records I don't think. One 3 game series would also bring back the spark and would eliminate the chance of a split.

I really hope MLB revises the in-state interleague rivalry rules...cuz we're not the only ones who do this.
Anyone have Bud's email address?

Look on the bright side.  Even though they got off to a hot start the White Sox stink this year.

i dont think that this will change anyime soon.  the league is trying to promote interleague rivalries, and the best way to do that is to build up the in state ones.
Yankees v. Mets
Reds v. Indians
Cubs v White Sox
Angels v. Dodgers
etc, etc, etc....

this is all a market ploy by the league to keep the emphasis behind interleague play going.  plus they are making a fortune on these games.   i personally dont like playing the teams in our division like 15+ times a year worse than the 6 we have to play against the white sox.  but i dont see either changing anytime soon.

I personally like seeing the games between the two. I just wish there were less  interleague games though. But, I guess it doesn't matter. Have to play 162 regardless.

As NyN said, the Cubs/White Sox are not only teams to play the home and home.  And, the Cubs could have easily been scheduled to pay the Yankees and Red Sox as opposed the Orioles and Blue Jays.  So, the assumption that an additional 3 games against the White Sox prevented a trip to Fenway is factually incorrect.  The MLB schedulers abritrarily chose which teams from the AL Eastt the Cubs played this year.  I agree, Cubs/Red Sox in Fenway would have been awesome.   But, for whatever reason, it did not occur.

Yeah, they try and make a big deal about the I-40 Rivalry - Cards/vs Royals.  Maybe back in the 80s, but now it's lame.

I, too, would rather go watch the Cards play in Yankee Stadium or Fenway.

Instead, I only get to see them twice - in Washington and Philly :(  (Live in VA)

Why would you want to give up 6 sure wins every season???

Dang....just noticed my server here at work won't allow me to put the smiley face avatars out there....so imagine the one with the halo after that last comment. LOL

Pochman,

I completly agree. I'm a White Sox fan and I wish they would only do the interleague rivalry games for one series also. I would rather see other teams that we normally would not play rather than the Cubs, who we see and hear and know about already.

Don't worry STL- what is a lame series this year is a hotly contested bru-ha-ha the next. (Or maybe the year after that.)

Interleague play generally sucks from a fan's viewpoint. No argument there.
But it works in a few places for attendance.
Hell, the Reds were able to actually FILL up their ballpark against the Tribal Blunder and they couldn't even outdraw Louisville before that.

I am still trying to figure out who Seattle's natural rivalry ought to be.
Tacoma?

I know the Cubs and White Sox players don't give a pinker's penny about it.
